The shoe is weakly secured to the saw, which causes the shoe to change position as you cut. The result is that as you apply pressure when using the saw, the shoe flexes and alters its position relative to the saw and the cut line. Of course, when you use the laser you think you're cutting straight, but when the shoe shifts so does the laser. Two design flaws cause the problem 1.) The depth guide slider is flimsy and does not stay in the track. The tightening screw can't apply enough pressure to keep the slider in the track. It needs a better pressure point. 2.) The bottom of the depth slider is loosely riveted to the shoe to allow the shoe to tilt for angle cutting. This connection cannot be tightened, so the shoe and the depth slider easily shift as you cut.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Olivet Great product!
I'm really glad that I chose this item. The blade was really easy to install & though I was hesitant at my first use, I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of use. I love it & will continue to use it for my DIY projects.
Mine came with a bag & that is perfect for storing it in a safe place when not in use. 5 stars

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Redbaran Switch prone to failure
I posted about how I fixed my saw on a thread on the woodtalkonline forums, but the gist of it is that the switch has a spring that is squeezed between two little nubs. It doesn't take much at all for the spring to come off of those nubs. In my case, I also had some light corrosion on the contacts in the switch. The good news is that I was able to fix it myself, and had I not been able to, I could have purchased a new switch for $20.
When the saw is working, I am pleased with the power and features, but having the unreliable switch has caused me to purchase a nice Makita hypoid saw instead and I'll be selling this one. If you buy this saw, definitely keep the receipt as you'll need if you need any warranty work.

Got this saw as a birthday present so that I could cut some wood for DIY type projects. Laser guide is a joke, the blade cut nowhere near the line despite my attempts to adjust it. In addition to that the saw would not make a square cut. Thought this would be a good tool to start woodworking, but overall I was extremely dissatisfied.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PoppaKen This saw is excellent- performs great!
Met all my expectations- accurate, powerful, and smooth to operate. Like the laser tracking very much. Like the angle cutting when you calibrate the angle with a practice cut on a scrap piece of wood. Produced my best wood construction project with this saw and a well-balanced blade (Diablo).
