Asked by: Rich
The Ryobi is pretty average. It was no louder than my previous sander.

Can I use this sander to remove liuq.Nail

Asked by: carl
Not sure about liquid nails, but there was some type of liquid substance on the top of the table I was sanding. I sanded over it a bit, then I was able to pull the substance off the table. It got heated up from the sanding, but was able to stretch and pull it off, similar to a glue or rubber product.

Use this sander to strip off stain/finish?

Is this sander sufficient to take the finish off an old table top or would belt sander do a better job?
Asked by: MIke
I use mine to strip old stain/finish as well as other projects.

Can I use this in a small area on the floor in my foyer area?

Asked by: Nat
I used mine to sand 2 rooms to get off sponge painting and it held up well. It's an orbital sander as well so you might want to be careful with it that you don't take too much off cuz it is easy to do with this one.

This little sander is doing a great job of sanding the tops of about 7 various pieces of furniture. Works great. And I would recommend the Diablo sandpaper. There is not much in the package but it works much longer than traditional sandpaper, and produces much less sanding dust.

This Ryobi sander works great but there is one slight design flaw. The on and off button is in a poor location. While sanding I tend to turn it off by mistake. My thumb seems to rest right on the button. I would still recommend this sander.

This one was less expensive than Harbor Freight's. The construction is solid and fits my hand comfortably. The spring mechanism that holds the sanding sheets is the same as my last 3 sanders. I can replace a sanding sheet without actually looking. The power switch slides easily and requires no thought. I don't like the yellowish-green Ryobi color, but the wood I'm sanding doesn't seem to mind it.

It sort of grips to the piece you are sanding rather than glide over the project requiring more strength over longer sanding projects. I've used many sanders so my review is based off a comparison to others I have used.

I needed a light sander to use for long periods on softer woods. I was debating on buying the more expense dewalt palm sander but for the money I thought I would try this ryobi model. The sand paper loads like any other palm sander. Others claiming they had issues must not be familiar with other types of sander. After less then 2 hours of sanding time there is issues with the motor. The sander kicks like a mule. You can not lay it down flat without it wanting to buck, walk around or wobble back and forth. It is completely useless now as it creates swirl marks and hurts my hand to hold because it kicks so hard. I have seen this before in sanders when they get older with many miles it almost like the motor is over revving making the tool uncontrollable. It is most likely a plastic ring or some sort of "brake" that broke or became dislodged. I knew better then to buy ryobi, but I went against my better judgement. I recently was in need of a belt sander. You can bet I passed on the cheap ryobi model and spent $100 more dollars for a quality brand. Even if you are a weekend DIY warrior, Do yourself a favor and spend a little more and buy a reputable brand. This sander will fail on you in a small amount of time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from designed by an amateur I bought this because an emergency in a work i was finishing, it made me lose time and money, poorly design in most ways: Heavy, difficult to handle, and most important; the design on the plate where the sand sheets are placed its very delicate, soft and thin, it causes the sand sheets broke over and over, I have 2 weeks this and it's already placed in the garage, my makita sander was 12 years old when It needed only one repair, this ryobi needs redisign asap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very satisfied I bought this sander to replace an ancient old Sunbeam belt sander. I have always had good luck with Ryobi products and this is no exception. I like the fact that you can buy any type of sheet sandpaper, cut it down to the appropriate size for this sander and then use the hole punching tool to make holes in the sandpaper so that the dust gets sucked into the bag. Now with that being said, the dust does not really get sucked into the bag very well. I had to wear a ventilator mask to prevent breathing in the dust. I used this tool to sand down door jambs and it worked great. I like how small it is compared to my previous belt sander. If I was doing some serious sanding, I would probably invest in a more heavy duty sander. I had no problem with the sand paper ripping except when I accidentally went over a nail. Overall, I am very satisfied and would recommend to the average DIY'er for sanding door jambs and paint on walls.
