Will this drill 1-1/4 inch diameter holes into lumber?

Asked by: RGB
I recommend using a Forstner bit. They make it easy.

Can this drive in screws?

You can use this drill as you would any other, including to drive screws. Just be sure you have the hammer function switched off.

Anyone else have an issue with the drill bit constantly becoming loose? Getting frustrated and want to throw this thing

Asked by: Master
If your bit shank has flat surfaces, make sure the chuck teeth are centered on the flats. The best way is to start by eyeballing it, and then tighten the chuck gradually while rotating/jiggling the bit back and forth slightly so that the teeth end up exactly centered on the flats. Then tighten all three sides of the chuck with the key, as others have suggested.

can I use a 3/8 bit

I am drilling a 3/8 diameter hole in concrete
Asked by: Sean
That's the exact (and only) size in my limited use, which was on concrete; and it worked quite well.

This hammer drill is good for the DIY who only needs one every now and then. It feels good and has decent power but is definitely for light duty. I used it to drill 1/2" holes in 6" think concrete. It starts to bog down after 4" in but if you're careful it keeps going. After a dozen holes it was pretty hot. For the price and the 3 year warranty it's a good buy.

After recently purchasing this drill, I put it to work drilling holes through solid concrete with a 3/4 in. carbide tipped bit that's 10 in. long. Following the manual's advice of not exerting extra force on the drill but simply letting it do the cutting work itself made the job go smoothly and avoided overheating the motor. It's a solidly built drill, weighing 5 pounds and has all the features of other brands priced twice as much and more than twice also with six amp motors.

It's good to have a agile drill with plenty of power!. I'm tired of stopping work because of a lousy battery. Easily adjustable with a quick response. Affordable enough that I bought 2, so I don't have to change drill bits, or other accessories.

I just used my new Hammer Drill and it performed better than expected. I was able to go through concrete foundation like warm butter. When I took it out of the box, I was pleasantly surprised at how big it is. It's a beast! and it purrs like a fine piece of craftsmanship. There is absolutely no reason to spend more on a high dollar brand when this thing performs this well. Guys, you should buy it before Ryobi figures out they under priced this bad boy and raises the price. It is NOT a $50 dollar drill, by any means. I am completely satisfied. Best buy at Home Depot!
