Your previous question intimated that you were going to buy a converter. Ask the converter merchant, that person should know, both the tool and the electric supply.

I need to take down a small brick column... Will this do the job?
Asked by: John
Hi, John. My name is Lynn from the Ryobi team. It sounds like you need a rotary hammer drill. An example model would be the P222. This unit has a mode selection called chisel model. It will allow you to chisel brick, tile, and concrete without the unnecessary rotation of regular hammer model. However, the one we have is cordless and a battery and charger would have to be purchased separately to use it. I have included the link below to help with your search. Thank you. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-18-Volt-ONE-1-2-in-Cordless-SDS-Plus-Rotary-Hammer-Drill-P222/206824269

I had a project to install lights to concrete pillars with concrete screws. My regular drill would not drill in the concrete and the bit would get stuck in the concrete. So I went to Home Depot and bought this hammer drill by Ryobi. Well I will tell you it drilled that concrete like it was butter. I finished drilling holes for 6 lamps in a couple of hours. It would have taken me days with my old drill. The hammer capability is amazing, and I love the reverse.I would highly recommend this drill for those tough concrete jobs.

I gave this drill 5 stars because it met my expectations considering the price. I didn't expect it to perform like one of the more massive, (and more expensive) heavy duty hammer drills on the market, and it didn't. But I only needed needed to drill eight holes 1/2 inch holes in a cinder block wall to repair my RV gate, and it got the job done. My daughter used it to drill holes in her tile-over-concrete kitchen floor and said that compared to a conventional drill, it went "like butter". Hammer mode can be switched off for those times when you only need a conventional hand drill. The drill rotation can be reversed and the speed control works well. The auxiliary handle can be positioned up, down, or on either side of the drill to suit the job or your preferences. It includes a built-in depth stop and can be easily removed for storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value Not to be fool by price. This drill challenges higher priced drills. If you look for an all around DIY around the house this is it. Easy to use and light when you need to use it with one hand.

This hammer drill made it infinitely easier to drill cinder block than any rotary drill. Save your joints. If you need to drill into masonry, or its siblings, use a hammer drill and a carbide hammer drill bit, it makes a world of difference. And if you want to save your money, this is a great value for the price.

Installed closet systems in four concrete walled closets, drilling dozens of holes with no problem and little effort. The drill operated perfectly. Only minor complaint is that it's a little heavier than I expected, but not enough to be a problem.

There are stronger and better hammer drills available but not at this price point. I only use this to turn an arbor that raises and lowers a garage ceiling storage device. This drill strains to turn the arbor that lifts about 200# via a pulley system. One minor gripe, the attached power wire is very short and requires use of an extension cord for every application. I use a Bosch Bulldog for serious drilling in poured cement and block walls.

I never owned a Hammer Drill before so I don't have a lot to compare it to. However, after spending hours trying to drill into solid concrete with a regular drill, this baby was a prayer answered. It made short work of the remaining holes I had to drill and cut through the concrete in nothing flat. The pulsating made all the difference. This was the least expensive model at the store and it was worth every penny. I imagine it will work well for most do-it-yourself type projects. Only thing I wasn't crazy about was that you need a drill chuck key to tighten the bits. It's probably necessary to get a really tight grip, but it's a little bit of a pain... But really not a big deal.
