New line dispensing or manual?

hi, does the string comes out automatically or each time it breaks i have to open the cover and pull it out manually? my old trimmer breaks the like every 5 minutes and i spend more time fixing it than wacking the grass... i saw the trimmers which dispense a piece of new line by pressing a button.
Asked by: alina
Every time you release the trigger button, the spool feeds out about 3/8" of line. If your line snaps off or wears all the way down, pulse the trigger a few times to get it to feed out again. The drawback is that you don't want to keep starting and stopping work, or you'll end up wasting line.

Shaft lenght

On model 2052, says the shaft length is 25. On model 2060, the shaft length is 65. Both say the shaft is adjustable. I'm looking for a model of 65 in length but just the tool only(no charger or battery included). I am 6' 3'' I would need the shaft that is the longest.
Asked by: jay
I am 5'10'', and use the 2052 with only about three inches of extension, however, I have a long torso and shorter legs, so my arm length is longer. I would suggest going to a Home Depot store and trying one out by adjusting it in the store. That is the easiest and most certain way to be sure that it would fit you comfortably.

How many rpm?

How do rpms compare to a gas trimmer?
Asked by: cac1954
I am using the Ryobi P108 4Ah High Capacity Lithium Ion battery. I don't know the exact RPM specifications for the 18-Volt Cordless String Trimmer/Edger, but it definitely DOES NOT match the RPM specs of a gas trimmer. This single-string trimmer does work well for lighter trimming tasks along fences and sidewalks, but I would not recommend its speed for thicker grass. Here are a some tips I have for making your trimming experience more efficient: 1. Ensure you are using the .065 trim line. Don't attempt to use larger line thinking more is better. Not the case with this trimmer. Keep with the recommended line. 2. While trimming grass along fences, beds, etc. and edging or trimming open lawn areas, ensure the line is at its maximum cutting length (use the manual line release as necessary), and work the end of the trimmer line into the grass rather than push the entire line into the grass. By pulling the trimmer away from the grass and allowing the trimmer to regain its maximum RPM's you will place less strain on the trimmer and with practice you should experience less personal strain on completing your gardening tasks.

ONE+ 18-Volt Cordless String Trimmer/Edger - Battery and Charger Not Included is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 749.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Trimmer I already had a couple other battery powered Ryobi tools, so I thought, why not? Get a trimmer too! Plus I was sick of toting around an extension cord and/or smelling like gasoline (I'm a girl, so...). I put this thing through a workout! I have a rather large yard and had 20 trees removed, so there's lots of dirt and now weeds growing up pretty tall and I really needed to use a trimmer. It lasted through almost all of the trimming before the battery finally gave out. It definitely got the job done, and I think it will be great once I get the yard in order and only need it for normal trimming. One thing I totally fail at is re-stringing weedeaters, and I haven't had to do that yet with this one, so I may check back once I'm done with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another in a growing list of..... Another in a growing list of Ryobi tools!!! It really is as good as some would believe!! Not tugging a rope to start a gas engine....not pulling a 100 foot cord around our 3/4 acre yard REALLY GOT TIRESOME!!! After watching a guy helping do yard work at our church with his "battery toy", I knew then it was my time to enter the next millennium and make my life easier. The only thing I need now a big glass of sweet tea! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Done with the cord! I have a smaller urban property. I always hated dragging that cord around the yard. Since I already had the Ryobi charger and battery I figured I was all set. The product arrived on the schedule promised at purchase. The product needed minimal setup. The trimmer is way better than my old unit and the little swing-out edger tool is great. It is much nicer experience trimming and edging the yard without that darned cord. The auto line advance works great and I spend way less time dealing with the trimmer line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Second time is a charm? Purchased this trimmer to replace the previous one purchased 4 years ago. I put it through some hard usage for those 4 years and had few complaints until one day the motor seized completely up. The original one worked well with one major complaint In that it wouldn't advance the string when twisted into edging mode. The new one seems to be working fine in both modes. Hoping this one lasts a good four years too! Love the fact that the batteries from one fit all the other products as well. Only down side is that the batteries can be difficult to remove for someone without hand strength or arthritis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gas never again! I really love not having to mess with gas or pull start ever again. I have a small front and back yard for which this trimmer goes the job just fine. Now I already had three batteries and two chargers because of my other tools I own. I can get the yard done with one battery if I pick the right one, which means one of batteries is not as strong as the others. But I never need two fully charged batteries to get the job done. I have also finally used up the trimmer cord that came with the unit. Went to Lowe's bought the right size cord and replace the spol with no issues. I use this unit for simple grass trimming and edging only, works great.
