Customer Questions & Answers

Can it undercut floor trim?

The picture shows the tool without a battery. With a battery installed it appears that the battery would prevent a horizontal cut.
Asked by: ok1wire
Hi ok1wire, With the right blade this can be used to undercut floor trim. Hope this helps.

What blades, if any, come with this tool?
Asked by: BT
Even though the tool is packaged with just the blades mentioned, note that the JobPlus doesn't require proprietary blades. Its multi-tool head is universal and accepts a huge variety of blades from many manufacturers. That opens the door for getting some pretty good deals on additional blades, without worrying about whether they fit. Just look for "universal" in the blade description.

Asked by: oscar
Hi Oscar. There are multiple attachments for this power base and unfortunately there is no guard. Thanks for asking!

This looks like it is only a reciprocating tool, does it also do full rotary?

I don't completely get it, sorry to be stupid! All the accessories look like they are swinging back-and-forth. Does this also have a setting for fully rotary operation?
Asked by: WebPoppy8
no, just oscillating

Cutting metal scroll work out of security door

My new house has a very nice full light security door that I like but it has scroll work in the corners I want to cut out. It is welded in lightly and it looks like it would be easy to cut out. Will this tool cut that weld out? See attached file with picture.
Asked by: Budley
You can use the metal cutting blade, but a disc grinder with a metal cutting wheel may work better

extra sand paper

Is the sand paper for this sold? if so how do I get some?
Asked by: Support
Thank you for your question! The sandpaper is sold separately. If you would like the original sandpaper that came with this unit, you can special order it from your local Home Depot if you are in the continental US. The 60 grit is part number 902423001,80 grit is 902460001,and the 120 is 902424001. If you have any questions, contact us at 1-800-525-2579.

What is the lowest this tool can cut?

. I need to cut under door jams for 12mm (1/2") laminate, but it looks like the base is thicker than that.
Asked by: NJ
I regularly undercut door jambs with this tool. You just need to choose a blade that is offset so that it stair-steps down from the point where it mounts to the tool. With those blades, the bottom of the blade is lower than the mounting point. That allows the blade to sit directly on the floor or on your laminate. Home Depot sells a variety of offset blades from various manufacturers. For very wide jambs you may want to buy one of the round blades. It's a good bit faster than the rectangular blades because there is less repositioning of the blade as you make your cut.

Customer Reviews

ONE+ 18-Volt JobPlus Base with Multi-tool Attachment (Tool-Only) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 190.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extremely useful and flexible Used this two or three dozen times since buying it. Changed a bunch of tile and rotted flooring using a grout-saw attachment and a bi/metal cutter. Just kept going. Love adding this to my Ryobi-One+ stable. Great that it uses all the standard multi-tool blades, sanding heads, etc. I can get these for almost any job in almost any place. I would love to try a different job plus tool but I'm not made out of money! In some situations the tightening screw seemed to get loose a few times. This was a minor annoyance. It is difficult to remove the multi-tool hard from the job plus base. With the multitool attachment this is very important for some hard-to-reach locations.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well but..... This tool works well and has come in handy on several occasions. However, this is a "Multi-Tool" with a detachable head, but Ryobi doesn't bother to make ANY other attachments. That's right, if you want to buy any other attachments, you have to purchase a different Brand (they are universal). Ironically, other brands offer the right angle drill attachment and Ryobi sells a Right Angle drill - but it is a solid unit which means that the head does not detatch. I can only guess that Ryobi does this to force you to buy another complete tool. I have over 20 Ryobi products and used to be a huge fan - but that is no longer the case. I will be switching Brands as there are several better ones with smaller, lighter, and more powerful tools - even if they are a little bit more expensive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works good but not durable This was purchased to replace an identical item that quit working at Less than two years old. I am disappointed at the durability and would have bought a different brand had it not been for my large stock of batteries for 18V Ryobi tools. Definitely the worst service out of a lot of Ryobi tools that I own.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Got a lemon? Disappointed Ryobi ONE+ 18V Jobplus Base with multitool attachment. My son and I together have several of the tools in the Ryobi ONE+ cordless line-up plus batteries and two chargers which we share. We have been mostly pleased with all of them (the line trimmer has been a Godsend on 2-acre lot and circular saw also great). I was looking forward to purchasing and using this multitool (never owned one before), so was summarily disappointed when it failed after the first 10 minutes of normal use. The oscillating power shaft stopped moving through its normal range of angular motion when under even a slight load. It made noise but moved about 1 degree at most - would sometimes kick in to normal motion intermittently when not under load. Quite sure that this is not just a matter of the blade slipping on the oscillating shaft. I don't wish to denigrate any other tools in the line-up by giving this one a poor score, and I may only have gotten the unique lemon out of 1,000 tools, but there should be NO LEMONS and I am compelled not to recommend this one. What else can I do?

What was ridiculous was the fact that I had to order it online to get a 10 dollar discount but I picked it up in the store that same day. Home depot should be giving store customers a discount.

I bought this for some work around the house where I couldn't get a circular saw into. I also wanted to try it out in general, but the former was my excuse to the wife for getting it. It's definitely not intended for heavy duty use. trying to carve out a section of a 2x4 was a little above what this was intended for. It did the job, but went through batteries fast. It'll take a few more projects using this to get the hang of it, and really appreciate it's applications. I also like the fact that it will accept the various Rigid heads available.

This thing works great, a previous reviewer said cutting a 2x4 is a little beyond this tools capability. I'd like to correct the review, cutting a 2x4 is beyond the blades it comes with capability. Do yourself a favor and by a good blade when you buy it, The blades it comes with are less than stellar. I was quite disappointed when I first tried to use it, but after slapping a bosch hardwood blade on, its cutting through 2x4's like butter. Making the otherwise difficult task of removing sections of water damaged lumber quite easy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best tool of it kind for the money I'm a home improvement contractor and I use this tool constantly. It has proven to be one of the most useful tools in my Ryobi collection. I like that the base works with the Rigid branded multi-tool attachments found at The Home Depot. This allows me to attach the Rigid 90 degree drill/driver head to be able to drive screws into tight spot. It also works with the collection of Ryobi batteries that I already have so I don't end up with a myriad of different batteries and chargers in my trailer.
