Customer Questions & Answers

Does the sanding attachment use loop and pile? If not, what?

Asked by: Nimbo
Yes, hook and loop but finding the sanding pads is nearly impossible, which renders the sander useless. My Home Depot (Aurora, Oh) and all those around here dont carry them and they're extremely difficult to find on amazon, etc. Zero stars on this tool.

Does it have the quick change trigger or do you have to use an Allen wrench to remove the blades?

Asked by: David
You need an allen wrench.

Can it undercut floor trim?

The picture shows the tool without a battery. With a battery installed it appears that the battery would prevent a horizontal cut.
Asked by: ok1wire
Yes, it can and I have done so with mine.

I've been a multi-tool fan for several years now and going cordless just makes a great tool concept that much better. And, this one is a lot quieter than the inexpensive corded model I've been using. I also like the ability to rotate the head with respect to the grip and trigger. Beyond sheet-rock outlet box cuts, I've used it for light sheet metal and plunge cutting 1/2" OSB. My only complaint is that there's no on-board storage for the allen wrench required for changing blades. Of course, tool-less blade changes would avoid that issue and be even better! That's a convenience I'd pay a few $$ extra for.

This one is cordless so it is much more convenient to use and has no let down in power (using lithium ion batteries). A bonus is that it can take all sorts of other brand blades which my Porter Cable could not do. Double bonus, I can get other heads for this tool to make it do even more. Very satisfied.

I already had a 12v multi-tool from another manufacturer but the idea of not having to horse around with a power cord and, at times, an extension cord for small jobs looked attractive so I gave this one a shot. While it is not as powerful as the 120v tool, it is more than adequate for all but really large jobs (such as removing vinyl floor tile or sheet flooring in an entire room) and, being battery operated, is far more convenient. It is also lighter than the 120v tool which is much easier on my old hands and arm. It has been very handy around the house for small, quick jobs that would have been a chore with 120v multi-tool (which I haven't used since I bought the Ryobi a couple of years ago). Being able to rotate the head on the base has enabled the tool to get into places the 120v would not have a ghost's chance of getting into. Of course, being able to use the stable full of Ryobi Plus one batteries I already have is also a good thing. Another bonus is I can use other Job Max tool heads with the base of this tool (I wish I had known that back when I bought my Ryobi right angle drill). The light on the tool I have is pretty much useless since the blade gets in the way of the light beam. Having to use an Allen wrench to change blades, etc. is inconvenient but the only multi-tools I've seen that do not require a wrench to change the blades cost significantly more and would not use the Plus One batteries. Also, although the direction of the rotation of the base can be changed with a small lever under the trigger, there are no markings indicating which way is which (the Job Max hammer head, which is now discontinued, requires that the tool be to forward only). Over all, for occasional use around the home, this tool is hard to beat for the money, especially if one already has a Plus One charger and batteries.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A versatile tool Used this with Ridgid brand dremel head to cut outlet boxes in drywall and OSB. Worked great after I got used to it, also used with various blades scrapping and cutting in remodel project with the Ryobi speed saw head. Worked good in this respect also, but go for high capacity batteries as I went through all three of my fully charged batteries in one day of remodel. Bought high cap batteries that night! Plan to buy Ridgid right angle drill head for future projects.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extremely useful and flexible Used this two or three dozen times since buying it. Changed a bunch of tile and rotted flooring using a grout-saw attachment and a bi/metal cutter. Just kept going. Love adding this to my Ryobi-One+ stable. Great that it uses all the standard multi-tool blades, sanding heads, etc. I can get these for almost any job in almost any place. I would love to try a different job plus tool but I'm not made out of money! In some situations the tightening screw seemed to get loose a few times. This was a minor annoyance. It is difficult to remove the multi-tool hard from the job plus base. With the multitool attachment this is very important for some hard-to-reach locations.
