Depends on how you order it. One is, one isn't. If you have other One+ tools you don't need a battery, just use the batteries you have, that is what I did. If you don't have other One+ tools make sure you order the one with a battery included.

You can buy it with or without the battery. If you have other Ryobi lithium+ tools and already own batteries you will save money buying it without. It uses the older style batteries as well, but you won't get the life out of them that you will with the lithium+ and they are heavier.

You have to have at least one section attached (the one with the battery), which makes the pole about 5 feet or so in length. We did use it this way to cut up the limbs into 2 feet lengths for the fire pit. Worked fine!

Answer:
Hey, Yeggie. The bar and chain oil is distributed based on the position of your chain brake. Although you may experience some leaking, if you engage the break during storage, you should have very limited oil leak out. Thanks for the question.

Answer:
Yes! I just put it in a tote with the tank that hold the oil down, this slows but not stops the dripping.
And, I fill it based on the job: large job; fill it up- small job-quarter cup, etc
All chainsaws leak, so this is part of the beast.
All that being said, I love this tool and use it at many of my jobs.

Have not had a leak problem. Check saw for chain lube spray from time to time during use, Use what you need for oil as you cut. Store the saw in a manner that if it does leak it will not be a problem. The more you use the saw, the more it shares its tendencies. Hope this helps.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 349 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pros: it works, cuts very quickly, and has quite the reach. Cons: it is head heavy, and the chain loosens quickly. I am considering replacing the allen cap set bolt with a wing nut topped set bolt so I can tighten the chain quickly without the allen wrench. October 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ryobi Pole Saw Balance can be awkward, but does the job quite well. October 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great pruning saw! This saw is easy to use, cuts through limbs quickly and The battery life is also very good! October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy Worksgreat. Plentyofpower. A littleheavy for older people with full extension( I'm 63), but I can cut more than enough to work on the ground before I geT tired. Standard battery has plenty of life. Very happy with this and all of my ryobi tools. October 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent for trimming branches I already had plenty of Ryobi One+ batteries so this was a nice addition. It's easy to assemble and you will be up and running in no time. It cuts surprisingly well and it easily sliced off 4" branches. For me it is a little hard to handle when the full extension is used, but I'm getting old and puny. The only other issue for me was that the chain kept slipping loose but I'm thinking that's because I'm not doing something right. Overall a very good value. October 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by handi addition to my collection This accessory would be rated much higher if the wand were made to telescope. I found this item very effective to use, at a very good price. Would highly recommend it to anyone. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product I have five of these saws They are easy and safe to use October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very good value Assembly was accomplished easily and quickly. Cut through both hardwood and fibrous palm fronds with ease.More power than I expected for an 18V chain type saw, but maybe I should not have been surprised because I have almost all the Ryobi 18V tools. I am extremely happy with the saw. Well worth the money. As with all chain saws remove bar and chain oil after use and cover the storage surface---there will be a little leakage. September 27, 2016
