Answer:
You can use the longer lasting battery if you like. The mounting face is the same for both the regular battery and the One + batteries. The only difference is the size of the body. The extended life battery is about twice as thick as the regular battery. And they recharge very quickly, something like in 30 minutes or so.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 217 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great when it worked, died in less than 2 months.... I have now owned the saw for almost 2 months. The saw is only capable of making 3 cuts of a 4-6 inch diameter limbs before it kills the small battery that comes with the saw. Yesterday I was helping my Dad cut some overhanging limbs on his driveway and the saw went to half speed of what it normally operates at and smoke started pouring out of the vent holes. Now when I pulled the trigger it will not work an pour smoke our or will do as described above. I really enjoyed the saw when it worked, I did however believe this would last more time. I am now in process of filing a warranty claim on the saw. I will update this once this has been replaced or repaired. September 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I have used the product twice since purchasing. Both times it worked well. I have had to tighten the chain after each use so far. I would have given 5 stars but I didn't reaize the chain oil would leak out when I laid the product down flat to transport. Now that I know this I will transport differently. Also, when all 3 poles are attached the unit becomes very awkward and heavy and takes a little bit to get comfortable using it. October 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Product is great for small limbs and cleanup around the house. Powerful enough to take down 4" limbs easily. The saws lightweight and ability to reach even the highest limbs make this a must have for any Ryobi user. This is only my second Ryobi product as I "used to" buy only another major brand until now. October 25, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not impressed Called support about leaking bar oil when saw is stored between uses. His recommendation was to remove the bar oil. Seriously, never had a chain saw that leaked excessive amounts of bar oil after use. I have to remind myself this is a battery operated tool, so not to expect much in the way of power or cutting time. Adding and removing extension a bit cumbersome rather than having a telescoping extension. One plus. Lighter weight than gas engine pole saw. Maybe better for the environment since no carbon emissions? October 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pro's: Easy to use, Good Battery, Good Quality, Able to handle medium size jobs, Good value Con's: Heavier than I had imagined, so awkwardly heavy with the extensions on. I think this is just how these are because this not due to it being cordless and uses a lot of oil, so you will need to buy extra when purchasing. October 25, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by needs inprovement this product easy to put together, but very hard to balance it and control trigger to cut. needs to be better balanced move trigger more to center where you have to hold it and control it , not at the back end. as far as cutting its a great tool. just not easy to control the way its designed. go out and test them before you build them October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Impressed I snapped this together and put it right to work. I probably cut trees and limbs over the recommended use and was impressed with the power. 2 full days of cutting some overgrown property and not 1 issue. Just a reminder. Keep an eye on the chain oil level and be sure to keep the blade tight. I did have to tighten occasionally October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tool. Very powerful, especially for its size. Well designed, and allows you to reach very high branches. Note: 1. Buy an extra bottle (large) of oil — it goes through oil very quickly. 2. The battery that comes with it is almost useless — lasts maybe 15 minutes at most. So be prepared to buy an extra battery (and they're not inexpensive) if you want to get any real work done. October 25, 2016
