I have several tree that are more than 50 years old. If I can stay off a ladder so much the better. Having almost all of the One+ tools, this made for a perfect fit with all my other tools. I was very impressed with the very good quality and I love that they made it in sections. If I wanted to make it shorter or longer, it is as easy as taking out or adding a section. With the P104 long life battery I was able to cut more than 5 dozen branches. It never let me down. It really a great saw and very handy with a hook on the back that I could snag a branch that I had just cut off. If you have lots of trees that need trimming, get this saw NOW!

I have been using a Ryobi trimmer now for 2 years and love it, so I decided to stick with Ryboi when I bought the pole saw. We have 11 large oak and pine trees on our lot and they all needed trimming. I have been trimming them on a ladder with a chain saw...not too smart at my ripe old age of 64. It took all of 10mins to put it together and add oil, after lunch the battery was fully charged. Thirty mins later I had trimmed 3 big pine trees, several branches were 6in. in diameter. I can't say enough good about this saw. If you are a do it yourself harry homeowner like me you need one !

I'm a professional builder, so Ryobi is not a tool I usually reach for (DeWalt, Bosch, Hilti are some I use) but saw this on sale at Home Depot and decided to give it a try. Ryobi has slowly beefed up their tools to better suit professional builders and the DIY handyman that demand a solid tool.
For those who are interested...the parent company that makes Ryobi also make Craftsman and RIGID tools.
For the easily bored readers....this is a very good tool. The battery charged quickly, and I easily cut about forty-five 2"-4" branches plus two 10" trees and still had a ton of battery left over. Its worth the 149.99.
For you technical readers, the saw was easy to assemble, had plenty of power, and the chain was sharp and there was no issue with the chain coming loose or needing adjustment...something that seems to plaque all these small pole saws. No such issue here.
On the cutting of 2 10" trees down with it....the saw never bogged down. In fact I was a little surprised at how easily it buzzed thru these trees.
Now, I know you aren't SUPPOSED to use it on anything over 6", but I decided to test it out. No problem, the saw ran right through it.
It does seem to run thru the self oiling lube pretty quick, but I think all these little saws use the oil. It wasn't terrible, but you'll need a big bottle of chain lube if you have a bunch of branches to cut.
The pole was pretty rigid, and I never felt like the saw was cheap or flimsy.
If you have some branches to cut down or bigger pruning to do, don't hesitate to get this little power-pack. I am very impressed with it.

EZ assembly, EZ use! Wish there were dual batteries, but plan on getting another to charge while one is in use. Cuts like butter!
Used this to trim MANY pine trees I have on my property and loved being able to get the job done with minimum fuss.
As a <5 foot tall woman/homeowner, I love not having to climb up on unsteady ladders!
As another reviewer noted, the third extension piece is difficult for me to use because of my short arm span - get too much kickback. With a little practice I have successfully used it, but don't feel as confident as I do at the two handle length.
Overall a great purchase and the envy of my neighbors :-)

Living in Florida I usually have to trim off a palm or two every week. Then there are the seed branches that tend to be near other branches and hard to get to. A manual pole saw works until the branch starts moving back and forth with the saw. After cutting 2 or 3 in Florida heat you are ready to go inside. The Ryobi makes short work of everything and works very well. I wish I had bought one when I moved to Florida a few years ago. A must have tool.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JohnD Good deal if you already have extra One+ batteries.
This is my first pole saw and it's very useful. I've been happy with it throughout the few days I've used it in my backyard and at a ski area trimming treelines. My advice probably applies to all battery pole saws - don't use a low battery on a thick branch you can't get to. Sometimes the teeth are stuck when the battery dies, and there's not much wiggle room if the bar is fully embedded. I have just three minor gripes - it comes with the small version of the lithium battery, there's no built-in way to retain the long hex key that you must have with you at all times, and the 8 inch diameter branch claim is unrealistic. 6 is more like it.

I have used the unit several times and it has worked great. I was using a ladder to reach the upper branches and almost alway came close to falling reaching out for that last branch. Now I can reach them from the ground with no cord to worry about. I found the battery life was enough as when it got low I had had enough.
