I have a splatter knockdown drywall that I want to apply self adhesive "quick tiles" to make a backsplash for my bathroom. The problem is that I need the surface to be smooth and level. The drywall is painted with a satin finish paint.

Thank you for your inquiry. Anytime joint compound is applied over previously painted surfaces bubbles will arise. You must first rough up the surface with sandpaper before applying the Easy Sand. Ideally the texture should be removed completely before applying a new surface. We do not have specific recommendations for using self stick tiles over joint compound.

Answer:
Jeremy Thank you for your inquiry. You can sand Easy Sand after it has set up. We recommend that you allow it to dry completely overnight before painting however. Thanks for choosing USG.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product! This is a great product for smaller jobs. It provides a quicker setting time so I can get all three coats complete in one day. May 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 20 minute joint compound (drywall mud) We all know the common use of 20 minute joint compound is for quick patch jobs but I like experimenting with products and finding fun ways to be creative with it. Apply 20 minute joint compound over stencils. I am currently giving clinics at Home Depot on stencil plastering. This is a great product in building homes but also for artist and DIY. April 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ez 20 Great Product! Great for patching jobs. Great workability on the EZ 20. June 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great, but 45 might be a better choice for some This is product is sold in a few different set up times and this is the fastest. If you are doing a small job and need to lay a few coats in an afternoon, it's perfect. You have to mix and lay it fast, otherwise it will set up in the pan. If you work slow, consider using the 45, 60, or 90. Nice thing is that one bag will handle all your household repairs for years. I've tried keeping premix, but it usually ends up going moldy after a few months. May 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BEST PRODUCT EVER I needed a product that could help me in my home project and boy did this help me. Before i had to use cheap knock off products. Thanks to this I made the best cake ever. Thank you Sheetrock brand! December 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DRIES SO SO FAST 20 minut mud - no joke!! Say good bye to the heat gun!! Use this for small jobs, touch up's or just if your really really good and super fast. Once this is mixed, you CAN NOT add water to it to slow it down or "puddy it up". Otherwise this is a great product, just have to know what your doing! =) March 30, 2010
