Q:I have been reading about weed killers and fertilizers for hours. The revues are generally poor for all brands and I am seeing a common thread. The products that got better revues are no longer available in my state of New York. Can you comment on that?

This product works well when you get a good bag. Recently, I've had trouble with the pellets being swollen with water and jamming my spreader. The end result is a very uneven application and it's impossible to fix. 3 of my last 4 bags have had this problem. Be sure your bag is intact and has no holes of any sort. The picture shows how half the bag contains normal, dry pellets and half of them are swollen and cakey.

          Scotts, we have a problem!
First time, after 2 years of Scotts' products, that I am totally disappointed. Used this product on wet yard and now have even more dandelions than before spreading. I have no idea what I am supposed to do now, at the start of the yard maintenance season.

            Lets feed the weeds
I put this on my lawn when it was wet and it didn’t have rain for several days. So far all I did was feed the weeds. A weed with yellow flowers has spread all over my yard. It did kill some weeds. I won’t buy it again, it is to over priced for it not to work like it did. Very disappointed.

                This product killed my grass
I brought two bags of the triple action for my lawns and instead of killing the weeds, it killed my grass and the weeds are still there! Lord Jesus, I just wanted a green and healthy lawn but now it’s brown in the spring my heart is hurt.

Great on dandelions and keeps grass green. Issue is with Sticky or Mousear Chickweed. That weed is taking over. Dicamba a herbicide that is suppose to take care of that Chickweed is in the product but doesn't seem to do the job.

                  One Weed Loves The Product
I have used the Scotts Weed and Feed product as well the spray on. The dandelions are gone. The grass is green. However ther is one weed that appears to love the treatments. Only a few seen a few years ago. Now they seem to grow ecponentionaly. I see the same weed on a review from Mrs. A four days ago. Enclosed is my photo of the weed. I just mowed and saw how bad the weed problem is. Purchased more Scotts Weed and feed and not sure I should apply. Any thoughts on the weed and a treatment?

Response from Customer CareMar 20, 2024
We are sorry you were disappointed with the SCOTTS TURF BLDR WD&FD 5M. The product must stick to the weed leaves to be effective. It should be left undisturbed and not watered for 24 hours after application. Temperatures must be consistently between 60 and 90 degrees when applied. If temperatures are high weeds slow their growth and can not absorb the product. If weeds are not getting regular watering they can not absorb the product. Weeds may temporarily appear healthier and greener after an application of a weed control. The active ingredients trigger uncontrolled plant growth that causes weeds listed on the label to die. You should notice the weeds begin to curl and yellow a few days after the application due to excessive growth. Controlled weeds should die within 2 to 4 weeks depending on temperatures. We recommend taking a sample of the weed to a local nursery for identification to be sure this is a controlled weed. Please reach out to our Consumer Services team at 888-270-3714 for further assistance.
This did not work AT ALL!
I applied the Scott’s weed and feed exactly like the instructions said and it did not work at all. I don’t think it killed one weed. I use different kinds every year and this is the worst EVER!
