Like most of the other Sharkbite solutions, this ball valve is very easy to use and install (and disassemble using a cheap small tool available from Sharkbite). It installed seamlessly and easily into my plumbing system linking my household plumbing to an exterior irrigation system. No soldering required, no need to evacuate water from the pipes, no concern about using a torch near combustibles, and best of all, NO LEAKS. The pipes must be cleanly cut, no jagged edges. I have used this valve for a while now, and it operates as smoothly, and surely as the day it was installed. I like that the valve orientation can actually swivel after installation (it is not fixed as with a soldered valve), so that the orientation of the handle can be adjusted to accommodate obstructions -- quite forgiving if you haven't otherwise paid attention to the orientation of the valve at the time of installation. Yes, these fittings cost a little more than traditional copper fittings and solder, but for the DIY'r the money saved doing the work yourself, easily justifies using these quality, time saving fittings to say nothing of the peace of mind knowing it's water tight. Highly recommend them.

This is the best plumbing product used in my 75 years of DIY. Makes home repairs a simple job. Clean ends of copper pipe before inserting into fitting.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nonsheep Great Ball Valve to Shut off Section of Water Pipes for Hose For Winter
Made sure I asked our fellow Home Depot Advisers before I allowed myself with plumbing stuff. I look at all the different options to splice into the current wet side of the house & run some needed hose outlets. I was able to cut into my current copper line & place a ball valve before installing the rest of the lines for the house hose outlets. Wanted a shut off Valve easy to access & Positive shut off for winter draining for no freeze pipes for the hose outlets after draining. I Used PVC to run in the crawl space for 3 spots. 2 hose hook ups were installed on the front of the house & 1 for the back. Was able to connect with no leaks & was easier than I expected. Think it out & put it on paper... Go Forth With Confidence!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by mixmox perfect for adding a valve to an existing pipe
the slip version of the valve is designed for adding a valve to an existing pipe. The slip feature allows a small section of pipe to be cut out and then the this product slides onto one side and can then be pulled back to also connect on the other side of the gap. This means you do not have to add a slip pipe in addition to the valve, saving money, time and space.
Sharkbite fittings can also be rotated so you should have no problem getting the valve handle in the optimal orientation!
Installation could not be easier. Cut the pipe using a proper pipe cutter, but it off with a Sharkbite tool, slid one side of the valve on, use the supplied clip to then pull it back onto the other pipe. Done.
Can be used with PVC or copper!
No glue, tape or joint compounds needed.
Can be resued.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HandyAndy2010 just pushes on.
Pex products are so easy to use and this is no exception.
This is a 4'' in length with a 4'' handle and is a ball type valve. Each end is a 11/2'' x 1/2'' pex, copper or CPVC pipe usable.
The valve simply pushes on to cleanly cut pipe for a minimum of tools needed and no glue or clamps required. A truley easy to install and easy to understand piping system.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gallus Worth the extra cost
I've learned to keep a couple of these in my plumbing box for the many times that I run into a valve that can't be shut off, needs to be replaced, but the line can't be drained. Soldering in these circumstances is impossible, and the speed of mounting a valve like this can't be beat with a compression fitting. One caution -- debur the copper well, because you can't scratch the o-ring inside. If you do, it won't seal well and you'll have to start all over again. What a solution -- permanent, doesn't cost all that much more than a regular brass valve, and installation is a snap.

This valve is made of superior quality. If you are making a repair, all you need to do is cut out the bad portion of pipe and slide this new valve into place. If, for some reason, you need to take the valve back off, it as simple using the removal tool and sliding it back off.
It also, works great for new installations too. If you are not a plumber or not comfortable with soldering, than Sharkbite product s are they to go.
I think Sharkbite products could be a little cheaper, but you must remember, many times these products allow the us to do the job without calling a plumber.
