I've purchased two of these oven, both back in 1998, I bought one for my mother, it still works as good as new, I bought one for myself that same year, Both white model.
I still have it however the convection part of it quit working 2 years ago. The spool that turns the fan melted and started to burn through the side, had to buy new part from Ontario, however it turns out the thermostat was not working properly. Too expensive to fix so I use only the microwaving features, and it still works great. Going to purchase a stainless model this year since my new place is all stainless appliances. Both still working great after 16 years. Cat loves to sit on it!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Robert Great Convection Microwave
Great Convection Microwave with many features. I built this into a cabinet in our remodeled kitchen. All appliances are going to an gray color which clashes with our colors. Also this unit has a numeric pad not a dial to turn. All the newer units are going to the dial which is a pain to select everything with. I also thought the dial would be a problem waiting for the right time to fail. My only concern with this convection microwave is that it has a metal, not glass, carousel tray. This may be the reason that you have to elevate popcorn to pop. If you lay the bag on the tray it will not pop. Otherwise we like our purchase. By the way we ordered it online and received it in less than a week!

When cooking for two it's my oven.
It is also the microwave for quick cooking. What more do you want?

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mark Good, but somewhat dated design
Had this unit about a month, so cannot comment on long term reliability. That being said, reading reviews of similar featured microwave/convection units, I choose the sharp over the Panasonic and GE counterparts. Partly because this is lower priced, and the reliability/support of the other brands is dismal.
Overall fit and finish is very good for the price, nice SS interior and interior light is great. The user interface is quite dated, but works. I do prefer a keyboard numerical input, as you can quickly set the exact cook time without twirling knobs. The unit's membrane switches are a bit difficult at times, they should have used capacitive touch switches. I also would prefer a handle on the door, as opposed to the push button to open the door. Since these units are 120V models, there is a limit to what it can draw from the outlet (total unit watts), especially when using a combination mode. So the microwave is a bit underpowered in comparison to a microwave only unit. We find that this Sharp microwave takes about 20% longer to heat to the same level compared to our previous unit. Still not a big issue, and it tends to more slowly defrost foods, which is good so it does not come out partially cooked.
The equivalent Panasonic, is fancier and a bit more expensive, but the PWM power supply in most of their models seems to have a lot of problems, not to mention the their microwave/convection unit getting very hot. Looked at the microwave/convection GE models, and they were 2-3X the price for similar features. They do have a more preferable user interface. If I was doing new construction, as opposed to a retrofit, would definitely go with a the GE or other brand 240V built in unit.
HD had very competitive best pricing with free home delivery and easily returnable, this was a preferable over other internet stores. Just would have liked to have seen the unit in advance of purchasing it. At this price, it is a very nice unit and do not regret this purchase.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by designgirl6 great product which lasted about 8 years. now have 2nd one
This Sharp has worked well for me in both usages. It is a great spacesaving additional convection oven. I never really figured out the pre-set programs but did not need it since I don't use the microwve for cooking. After 9 years of working great, the control board gave out and the part was really expensive and difficult to find. I bought a new unit and so far it works great

This countertop microwave/convection oven works extremely well and has the added benefits of: a sleek design (which can be paired with a trim kit ordered from Sharp directly for a built in look in an oven wall cabinet which is what we did) It also saves money because instead of heating up our range's big oven, we can bake a casserole or roast a chicken in much faster time because of the convection feature, and the roomy interior space of this oven fits most dish sizes needed to create a main dish for dinner. And of course the fact that it is also a microwave doubles its usefulness. I probably won't need to use my big oven except for holiday turkeys!!!!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by RayH Doesn't work as well as previous versions of this same model.
Over the past 25 years, I was the happy owner of two Sharp Microwave-Convection ovens of this very same model. When they wore out, I didn't think twice about ordering a third. But the newest one, which I installed just last week, does not have the same microwave power output. Microwaveable food items require 20%-25% more cooking time than they did in the earlier versions of this model. And an online attempt to learn from Sharp USA whether the microwave power output had been reduced in today's models, or whether I might have received a defective unit, were met with a computer-generated email that didn't address my question and another asking me to take a satisfaction survey about how my inquiry was handled. Aargh. :-(

This was our third purchase of a Sharp Carousel Convection Microwave. The first two lasted about 12 years of daily use each. We never use the oven in our stove as this is our go-to oven for just about everything that will fit in it. A 7 lb roaster chicken is done in about 60 minutes on convection, faster if you combine convection and microwave. Our first two were white. Nice that it's now available in stainless steel. Can't say enough about this unit. Stop reading and go buy it!
