Answer:
It's not waterproof if the water needs to run off. If water needs to run off that would put it more in the category of "water resistant".

What is the finished size and how are the gromets spaced?

Would someone from Sigman please reply with the facts. There appear to be two conflicting reviews on this matter. Does the finished product, as it is in the package, measure 20 feet by 20 feet? Are the gromets uniformly spaced or random?

Thank you.

Answer:
Grommets are much closer than ANY I have purchased in covering my boat for thirty-four seasons. It is 20X20 finished on a rough measurement that I needed that dimension and it was perfect, size-wise, and the label stated 20X20 finished. Grommets appeared UNIFORM spaced.

Answer:
Sigman 20 ft. x 20 ft. Silver Heavy Duty Tarp is a finished size tarp, i.e., the tarp's finished size is 20 ft. x 20 ft. However, due to inherent manufacturing margin of error, it is possible that the exact size may be a few inches off, especially when tarp size is large.
The grommet spacing is 1.5 feet approximately. The grommet position will not match exactly from one tarp to another, however.

Are these tarps okay to temporarily use on flat roof for hot periods? Are they a fire hazard?

This question is from 20 ft. x 20 ft. Silver Heavy Duty Tarp

I'd like to place a tarp on a flat roof with gray asphalt-roll material to help reflect the sun during very hot days in southern California. The intent is to keep the roofing material cool so it doesn't radiate heat to the enclosed patio room below. I see a flammable warning on the cover and won't use this if it has the potential for igniting on its own! The Sigman website says it can be used for roofing, but I would like feedback from others who have done this or have experience with these tarps. The tarp may be on the roof from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the whether.

Answer:
Sigman 20 ft. x 20 ft. Silver Heavy Duty Tarp is not flame retardant. In normal conditions, the tarp does not spontaneously combust. Sigman silver heavy duty tarps have been used by roofers to cover roofs before or during repairs. However, polyethylene tarps in general usually do not last that long in Southern California or Arizona because of the high heat and UV.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by grommets fell out! The grommets came out or loose making it difficult to properly tie down. August 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great cover for camping! We recently went on a camping trip to a wildlife management area. It happened to be rainy - so we bought this tarp to have a cover for our campsite. Turns out there were also high winds. The tarp stayed up and protected us well. While putting it up and taking it down were a challenge due to the weather, it was definitely something we couldn't have lived without. Other tarps would have ripped, frayed or gotten otherwise damaged, but this one survived in near perfect condition. November 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Really Great Tarp ! I have been covering my 30 ft sailboat for 35 years with various tarps, two required since the mast blocks use of one, and this one was actually the BEST I have seen, mainly due to the tightly spaced grommets and its adequate thickness. December 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great heavy duty tarp I used this tarp over top of the light weight pool tarp that came with the pool used playground anchors and ratchet straps to pull the tarp tight over the pool Works well and haven't seen any fraying from the wind. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great value purchased for above ground pool cover - stretches tight - good fit October 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High Quality at a good price ! Using as a pool cover, works very good ! Keeps out debrie and warms the water. August 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very satisfied customer. This item is exactly what we wanted. Perfect for what we wanted to use it for. June 1, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good material, very poor construction. Thr quality of the material is quite good. the construction of the tarp, not counting the reinforced corners is no better than the cheepest tarps. I say this for 2 reasons. 1. Advertised size. This cut size and finished size stuff is ridiculous. A 20ft. x 20ft. should measure just that right out of the package. 2. Grommet spacing. Spacing between grommets should be the same on all four sides of the tarp. It's a shame that when you buy two new tarps you have to punch 15 - 20 holes in them and install new grommets so they can be attached to each other, because the origional grommets are spaced randomly and never line up.
