Product Overview

Post and Column Bases secure the bottom of posts or columns to concrete and are perfect for decks or patio covers. Models are available for attaching to existing hardened concrete, wet concrete, as well as wood. The BC series offers dual purpose post cap/base for light cap or base applications.

  • Provides a positive connection for a post to a wood deck
  • Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening
  • Reduces the chance of the post splitting and eliminates nailing into end grain
  • Not recommended for non top-supported installations (such as fences or unbraced carports)
  • Made from 18-Gauge steel
  • Galvanized for extra corrosion resistance
  • Install with 16d common nails

4x4 post to 3 2x8 beams

I have 3 2x8 beams bolted together horizontally. I want to support/connect one end to a 4x4 post vertically. Not sure which strong tie to get. Can you help? Actually width of the 3 2x8 beams together is 4.5 inches.

It would be up to the Designer/Engineer of Record to specify the appropriate connector based on framing layout, demand loads, local building codes, etc., but the two end column cap models we offer for this size are the ECC4.62-3.62 (installs with through bolts) and the ECCQ4.62-3.62SDS (installs with SDS screws). Please visit your local Home Depot store for more information and to order. Thank you!

is there a bracket for connecting 4 x 6 beam onto another 4 x 6 beam (perpendicular to each other)

Asked by: Ricky
If I am understanding the connection correctly, a product we offer called a CCOB44 may be an option for you. This is basically two of the 4x cap only connectors (CCO4) welded back-to-back to create a cross beam connector. This is not a stock item; please visit your local Home Depot for more information and to order. Thank you!

Will this item be appropriate 6"x6" post and attaching two 2"x6" beams?

18-Gauge 6x Post Cap/Base
Asked by: Vince
The BC46 is sized for a 4x beam (3 1/2" wide) to a 6x post; two 2x beams are only 3" wide. We do not have a double 2x beam to 6x post cap to refer to (only a double 2x beam to 4x post cap - BCS2-2/4, or triple 2x beam to 6x post cap - BCS2-3/6).
