Customer Questions & Answers

Is this bracket recommended for fence posts

I plan on using this bracket with the 4X4 cedar fence post for a picket fence.
Asked by: Anonymous
I believe I came across a statement somewhere advising against it. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

Can you recommend another post base that does not require vertical support when used for 4" x 4" treated fence posts?

Asked by: Babykwai
There are plenty of other post base units that do not require vertical support, many cross ties among, but you'd have to know specifically what you're doing, in order to identity the appropriate one.

can I adapt this for a 3 x 3 post

I'm building an Alumawood patio and the supplied posts are 3 x 3 with two 2 x 6 foam filled side plates fastened onto each of the 3 x 3 posts. Thanks
Asked by: Michael
I do not recommend it. Anything other than a tight fit could run you into trouble at a later time. Make sure and fill in for that extra inch. You'd end up with a 3x4 of sorts, but the fit would be more secure.

A perfect fit for my 4x4 support poles, and a strong hold beyond expectation. Looking forward to years of true peace of mind. Make certain to place before concrete has dried, but not so much that your unit sinks and tilts. A leveled post base makes all the difference.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from worked well for what it is designed for bought this for support on awning for a storage shed. worked well without having to sink support post deep into ground, thereby saving on cement and having to dig deeper hole and since i am 71 years young, saved engery too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this. buy PBS 4x4 ZMAX Galvanized Standoff Post Base instead. I cemented 3 in and then decided to spend a few more $ and used the Standoff Post base for a 4' high fence. good thing I switched! But, i still used 3. There's no comparison. I now have to reinforce (the middle of 3) due to wobbly. Buyer Beware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it's suppose to 4X4 post bracket that gets cemented into the ground. I used this bracket for a fence post. Note that the post must be supported at the top, or this will not work. The material is steel and has a galvanized coating. Steel is relatively thick and the galvanized coating seems good. Price is very reasonable and it did what it was suppose to.
