This small hand utility saw could probably cut an 18 inch diameter tree, but it would not be my first choice of tools to cut such a tree... A CHAIN SAW is the proper tool to cut a tree with. That said, if you insist on using this saw to cut an 18 inch diameter log, much depends on HOW you want to cut that log. Is it a standing tree that you need to fell? If so you need to cut a notch in one side and a horizontal cut in the other, strictly according to SAFE logging practices. If you are cutting through an already felled tree, the strategy will be different... I have used many different types of saws to cut trees, and it is possible to improvise in many different ways, but the CHAIN SAW is the proper tool to cut logs with... If you know how to keep an ax sharp, you could also use an ax...
I bought one of these saws to accurately cut up a sheet of 3/4" birch plywood, and it worked VERY well for that... Read Less

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Accuracy, Sharpness, Speed, YES!! Besides cutting out pieces from a 4 foot by 8 foot sheet of Birch plywood for a furniture project, I needed to cut a bunch of rough Redwood 2" x 6" lumber to length for a planter box. This little saw did a terrific job! It worked FAST with this new tooth grinding pattern, but didn't sacrifice the accuracy I wanted from a small hand saw. Thumbs up for this affordable but excellent woodworking tool! March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sharp easy cuts I purchased this saw as a replacement for a friend saw I had broken, I used the saw to cut out some busted drywall, the saw cut fast, did not bend excessively. The handle felt very comfortable in my hand, held together unlike the one I had broken. March 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good little saw I was a little sceptical but this is a great little saw; smooth, fast... a good addition May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stanley Saw 10 in Great for cutting PVC pipe square and fast easy to handle in those tight area spaces January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little saw If you don't want to spend the money to buy or rent a table/circular/power saw then this little guy will do the job. Cut's pretty well and fast, arms won't be as sore as they would with a cheapo handsaw, trust me, DON'T BUY THE CHEAPO HANDSAWS... just pay a few dollars more for one that works. Unless you hate your arms, shoulders and free time. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Small Comfortable and Accurate I was cutting some fine pine stips to finish off my new windows. It cut straight and was small comfortable and accurate in it's cut. October 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job. Unlike so many handsaws around, this saw has a reasonable level of fineness to the saw edges. Makes for smooth and accurate cutting. November 3, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The best very good product easy to use. I will recommend this product. July 7, 2015
