If you can cut using the space between the handle and the top grip, you'll have better control. The exposed edge is really only for those very tight spaces in which you can't work with a normal tool.

Answer:
It will do it, but it's not the right tool for the job. The saw teeth are fine and meant for metal. You'll be happier if you get something meant for wood.

Answer:
Can it? Yes. Is it the best tool for the job? Probably not. I always use a circular saw for my coconuts.

10 in. Mini Hack Saw is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 59.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exterior Door entry hardware The handle was shorter than the one I replaced so additional drilling was necessary and patching up old holes in the door. The info on the box was incomplete as were the directions in the box. Also nowhere does it mention that it was smaller than the standard size handle. Overall it came out ok and looks good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simple, effective, no-problem tool Got this for trimming some light steel stock. It is a basic cast aluminum handle with a hacksaw blade, it holds the blade without problem and rattles just a bit. Dont know why i didnt get one of these years ago.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can't do much better for the price! I don't find myself in need of a heavy duty hacksaw often, so i opted for this one. It does the job, although the supplied blade dulled rather quickly. Reasonable price for a hacksaw that'll handle basic tasks.

Saw itself is compact enough to fit into a tight space, and the front of the blade being outside of the frame gives it reciprocating saw action.
