the window is very cheaply made. There is draft when the window is closed because the seal is very poor. The screen is screwed to the window, and is only taken off from outside. The window is screwed into the frame and can be removed from outside. So anyone with a Philips head screw driver can easily disassemble this window from outside your home

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by amanda I needed a small window at ground level in my basement because my larger window and window well were failing and in a bad spot. This window fit great and lets in a lot of light for its size. However, I made the mistake of installing it upside down, and it leaked profusely around the bottom (really top) and sides when I checked it for water proofing with a hose. I ended up having to seal the window with silicone since I did not want to flip it (plus I am not certain it would have been that much more water-tight the correct way). This was an ok option as I did not install the window for ventilation, just for light. In the end, I am very happy with how the project turned out.

I got these window's for a pool changing room I am under my patio deck so no one has to track inside wet. The windows look like they will work great so I don't have to put a light in the room.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by James Poor window gasket; Can see through corners
There is a flexible gasket around the glass casement. When the window is in the closed position, it is supposed to press up against the frame and form a seal. The unit I received has such a poor gasket, you can see through the cracks to the outside. If this were going in a shed or something, no big deal. However, this was going to go in a bathroom in the Northern Midwest. Having 1/4" of no protection to the elements just doesn't make sense in this climate.
Thoroughly inspect your unit before installation. Other than that, a great window at a bargain price.

I am totally impressed with the simplicity, but yet excellent quality of these little windows. It appears to me that the weather seals are very well made and very effective. -same with the latches. It will be a good test for them to see how effective they will be against our occasional bitter cold winter winds here in Northern Wyoming, about mid-January. At this point they seem perfect for my application needs. I was totally impressed with the low cost, and Tafco's very fast delivery time.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ProjectSue Ok for a Hopper Window
Installed on lower level of my ranch home in the back, on the southern exposure. It replaced a wooden window that was badly rotted out by the weather. The former window was a security risk as well as not well suited to our weather conditions. The plastic Tafco window is better suited to the weather conditions in this seaside area and small enough that not even a child could shimmy thru it. The glass is diffused, but it allows enough light into the basement (and fresh air if you want it) to satisfy the building codes. Negatives: not Energy Star rated, and the plastic that it's made of seemed kind of flimsy. Positives: clean and attractive looking, secure, easy to install, easy to use.
