Rated 5 out of 5 by great lock I got this lock because my mom is not able to open the front door when no one else is home so with this lock she can open the front door from her bedroom. And this lock is at least $80 cheaper than its closest competitors. She's happy I'm happy. October 21, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Incorrect Warranty printed outside the box The product worked fine after following the included setting/programming instruction. I had to reuse old latch and strike of the old/replaced one because the one came with the product was not quite fit and I did not want to make any mod to the door in case I will have to go back to the old one. One major complaint is the warranty. Inside the box, there is a warranty card and it said only one year while printed lifetime outside the box. I know those electronic things won't last long, I bought this because it said lifetime warranty. Even Home Depot website listed Lifetime warranty in the specification page. Even it works fine now, I would not recommended because of this marketing trick. HD should change to 1-year warranty on HD website. December 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Holy Toledo! What a nice deadbolt lock! Looking at all the electronic deadbolt locks on the HD site and Amazon, this Toledo seemed to have the most bang for the buck. HD shows a LockState brand that looks identical, but only comes with one remote fob. The Schlage locks aren't motorized--you are required to enter the code, then turn the latch manually. It's so much better using the remote fob. BTW, I tried to program the remote into my car's Homelink system, and it wouldn't take. Seems the Toledo remotes use an automotive encryption signal instead of a garage door type signal. Installation was easy because I was replacing an existing Kwikset deadbolt. Since I have installed many door locks before, I didn't read the instructions, and that came back to bite me. After the installation I found that I could only move the interior latch when the key was inserted outside. Remove the key, and the latch stayed in the unlock position. After playing with it a while, I finally read the instructions and found I missed an important step. First, be sure to have the bolt mounted on the door in the retracted position. When installing the lock cylinder from the outside, make sure the metal shaft is in the vertical position when going into the bolt's cross-shaped hole. Mine was in the horizontal position which didn't work very well. Also, make sure the bolt moves smoothly into the strike plate and the hole in the door frame is big enough to prevent binding. I had to Dremel out the wooden hole at the bottom a bit so the bolt would not bind there. The motor is not powerful enough to move the bolt if the door binds or has to be pulled with force to lock/unlock with a key. This is a great product when installed correctly, so be sure to read the instructions even though you think you're an expert like me! Also, be sure to reprogram the default programming code and entry code with your own codes. September 17, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love it! Installation was easy enough but the instructions for use were not as clear as they could be. September 8, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Cheap quality keyless entry The deadbolt was pretty easy to install but the fabs that come along with it only work about 5% of the time. The fabs were very cheaply made. The keyless entry stopped working after about a week and will not work. July 15, 2014
