Answer:
the only real difference is the clips that come with the product to attach it to the ceiling material you are covering. It is basically tongue and groove laminate flooring with ceiling clips and screws. You use the clips on each plank as you install it.

Regular flooring planks do not fasten down they just float. This product fastens with clips and is lighter.

We have very little money, but are tired of the water stains and holes in our wretched popcorn ceiling. Could we buy, say, a box a month and install it as we get it, or does it have to be all at the same time?

If I can use the ceiling clips does Home Depot carry them or do I have to order them through Home Depot? Or do you have any suggestions as to where you can get just the clips? Thank you for your advise and time!

Answer:
I have only used the clips for ceiling planks. If Home Depot doesn't handle them you may be able to contact the company that makes them. The other thing you may want to check is the thickness of the floor planks vs the ceiling planks.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice product This is a fairly easy product to work with. Yes many of the tongue and groove pieces are damaged and the planks do get warped because it is wood, but it is very simple to correct and/or mask upon installation. Wood is inherently imperfect and should be considered when being chosen as the material for your application. It also adds character. After installing on our bathroom ceiling, we repurposed the scraps in our living room and as wall decor. Use your creativity before throwing out! August 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome product I had the horrible popcorn ceiling and had been searching for a year to find something to put on our ceilings. We don't have a local Home Depot, nearest is about 65 miles, but I decided to do a search online to see what they had. I found the Ceiling & wall top tile and was excited to finally find what I wanted. Although we didn't see a sample we ordered any way. 47 cases later, we have the ceiling up and it is amazing. The look is just beautiful!!! The price for this product is great, the product itself is sturdy, beautiful color and easy to install. It is time consuming as you put 1 board at a time and you must take your time as forcing them together or pushing to hard will bust them in the joints (as we learned early on). However, if you follow the directions that comes with it, you should do fine. We are so Happy with our new ceiling and it has even made a difference in our heat. Love, Love, Love it!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice product After much debate about a ceiling cover for our outdated basement, we decided on the Top Tile product (Walnut finish). The material is light and easy to work with (very similar to laminate flooring). It is easy to cut and fits tightly together using the tongue and groove system. The clips are very malleable and often have to be "bent" open before they are wide enough to fit on the edge of the individual plank. The screws provided are total junk, the heads easily strip if not perfectly flush when we applied any torque. I would suggest buying a similar sized higher quality screw separately. We bought a couple of boxes of screws from our local hardware store after about the first hour of stripping out 1 out of every 5 of the supplied screws....this made our installation much smoother and quicker. As with any ceiling project, the overhead work is literally a "pain in the neck", but the individual planks are very light and manageable. After we finished our project, we were rewarded with a very cool looking ceiling that we were easily able to install ourselves for a minimal cost. September 2, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Looks nice but a lot of issues. I installed about 120 sqft on the ceiling of our new laundry room. It does look nice but there were a few issues. 1. each box had one to two pieces that had damage. Usually the tongue was broke. I was able to use but it shouldn't be this way. 2. the screws! Holy cow are they junk. I ended up having to drill pilot holes and then gently screw them in. Not good. 3. the clips. They needed to be manipulated to fit. I used my 1" chisel to spread them out. That being said it does look nice in the end but I cannot recommend this product. They need to bring the manufacturing back to the US and use screws from the US. September 16, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by looks great and easy to install but not enough clips if you are on 16 inch centers there isn't enough clips . and chips easy so take your time cutting and installing . but when your done it looks great . August 13, 2013
