Product Overview

The Tornado 30 lb. Steel Ladder Hook supports up to 30 lbs. The hook projects 7-3/8 in. and is constructed of durable steel. Use it in drywall or wall studs (wall studs preferred). Weight limit is 15 lbs. in drywall and 30 lbs. in wall studs. The included anchors use self-drill technology in drywall. For studs, pre-drill a pilot hole first for the anchors. Do not over tighten. Use 2 hooks for extension ladders. Using extra hooks does not multiply weight limit.

When it says depth, does that refer to the length of the hook, or from the tip of the black piece to where the hooks begins?

The depth is the length of the hook. It is 7 inches. Thank you for your inquiry.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely amazing All of the hooks from Tornado are amazing. They work well through drywall but I typically use them on studs in my garage or workshop. Simply drill a quarter-inch hole, insert the screw and get ready to hang about anything you want. They seem to hold an incredible amount of weight and since they come in different sizes, they are great for all kinds of applications. The barb on the back to hold the hook temporarily seals the deal when it is being installed. These make organizing a breeze. All the tornado products are highly recommended by this DIYer. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hooks These are great hooks for neatly organizing your garage (or other area). One suggestion for improvement: the screws for attaching should be longer so that they can grab more of the stud behind the sheet rock. . May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holds my extension ladder well Used two of these to hold up my extension ladder under my raised deck. Works well. May 10, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Returned product because protruding metal tang prevents mounting on hard surface I wanted to mount this on a metal surface but could not due to a metal projection (punch out) from the back of the bracket. This seems limited to mounting on drywall or soft pine. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great hooks for hanging anything bought these hooks to hang dive gear in our dive shed. works great April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well for the design I have. Works well for the design I have. I have been buying these for some time. I do not expect to have to replace them, ever. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good quality and price Used them to hang ladders in the garage. The ladders are heavy and one of these brackets holds them with no danger of the ladders falling off the wall. These ladders weigh 40 to 50 lb and have a 300 pound or more rating. I used two 3/4" X 3.5" boards screwed to the studs horizontally and mounted the brackets to the boards. April 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Screws should be a little longer Used a pair for mounting shovels/rakes/etc. the instructions say for into a stud predrill with 1/4" bit. I found this did not leave enough material for the screw to bite into well because it was so short and stubby, so the hook was slightly wobbly. There is a second set of holes for masonry mounting with Tapcons that I threw some drywall screws into to help shore it up. I didn't predrill on the second one I mounted and it gripped much better.
