Answer:
Hi Curious, Do you mean Bemis? Many people use Bemis seats on TOTO toilets and TOTO SoftClose on other toilets. The distance between the mounting bolts is standard, so it will fit. Just make sure you put an elongated seat on an elongated toilet and a round seat on a round toilet. Hope that helps!

I have never encountered any toilet with a different seat bolt pattern.

The mounting bolt pattern is standard on every toilet, the brand makes no difference. The possible exception to that rule would be if you purchased some exotic, specialty toilet. I would say at least 95% of all toilets are the standard bolt pattern.

I have two Toto toilets. One on which I have a Total-branded seat, and the other does not. A seat is a seat in terms of fit, but I truly recommend that you spend the money on the Toto. After 15 years it's like new. The same cannot be said for the off brand.

I never thought about it until you asked, so I tapped on it and it doesn't sound hollow to me. Never the less, it is well built and will last you many years. I have four in my primary residence, three in my rental, and just installed two more in my daughter's new home. The oldest ones are probably six+ years old, never have had a problem with any of them.

First thing I do when moving to a new residence is replace the toilets with Toto and make sure they have the soft close covers.
buy with confidence, just tip the lid forward and it slowly closes in silence, no more slamming lids. Mom's will love it...,

The SoftClose feature works well, but to me would seem to be worth the price only if there are small children in the house where the seat slamming down might be a problem. The seat and lid are comfortable and of good construction. The one downside is that there is lateral movement of the seat and lid, which if not properly centered when installed on the toilet, can cause the supporting pieces on the seat that rest on the toilet rim to slip off the toilet rim and give a surprising and scary bump. Once I reinstalled the seat so that its lateral range of movement is centered on the rim, the problem is solved. I do not know if a seat by another manufacturer will fit the Toto toilet, which after several months of use I still believe is the best toilet on the market.

There is too much room around the "soft-close" mechanism that the seat can be move left and right. I made sure that the bolts at the base of the seat were tighten and the bolts did not move during the test. And given the high price, this really sucks. Luckily Home Depot allowed me to return it. I have another 2 toilets installed using Kohler Cavata, and the seats have less wiggle room, plus they have rubber at the bottom of seat to stop it from moving once you sit on it.

The seat is a cheap unit, that I would only purchase for a home I was trying to flip, and I would only buy it for $13, not the over $50 price Home Depot charges. My recommendation is to keep looking, there are better seats in the $20-30 price range. I will be buying one of those, probably withing 6 months, when we get tired of this wiggly one.

They added more corners and other protrusions of plastic that will make it harder to keep clean. The seat we originally had was very streamlined. Now there are more areas for bacteria to accumulate and the cleaning will be more tedious. Also not a fan of the plastic screws that came with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great buy had a plumbing company install it. it looks sleek, nice self-closing seat cover, easy to clean.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well, but comfort is iffy. I bought this seat to go with a new Toto "comfort height" Drake II toilet. Seat installation took five minutes, and I especially like the sort of gummy plastic spacer that keeps the unit from shifting around. The soft close system works smoothly and quietly. Not five stars because the shape of the seat is not comfortable for shorter people using this taller toilet. I'm 5'9" and have no problem, but a 5'2" member of the family complains that the edge of the seat hurts the back of her thighs. I've replaced this Toto seat with a much cheaper Bemis model, and even though her feet still barely reach the floor when on this tall toilet, the shape of the cheaper seat is much more comfortable. Not recommended because of the comfort issue and the high price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit for Toto elongated toilet I opted to stay with the factory replacement for my Toto toilet mainly for size considerations. After looking at several brands of plastic elongated toilet seats it became apparent that the only thing they had in common was their shape and the 5.5" bolt pattern. They ranged in width from 14"~15.5" and 18"~19.5" in length and their weights varied from 3~8 pounds. At 6.2 pounds the Toto is well made and feels stable and comfortable with no flex when in use. Installation was easy and it comes with plastic top-install screws, nuts, friction pads and instructions. Because it's made for and by Toto the fit is perfect. (no over or under hang)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks nice but closes REALLY SLOWLY I didn't really want a slow closing seat, but it was the only one available from Toto for this toilet. It looks nice and is very comfortable, but it closes insufferably slowly. I mean it is fine to design a product that doesn't crash down onto the bowl, but I don't have 30 seconds to wait for the frame to come down. You end up pushing it down so what's the point? It also seems like a very high price for a toilet seat. I don't know what will happen to the speed over time, but right now it is in the you've got to be kidding range.
