Customer Questions & Answers

Is it water proof and ok for bathrooms and kitchens?

Asked by: PA
Yes and tested. This flooring has been in my master bathroom where we take baths and showers frequently and water spills constantly. No warping etc. it's in our kitchen and bathroom for over a year now with NO warping. Not in the kitchen, not in the bathroom. I took a piece and submerged it in a barrel for 30 minutes because I had a few worries like you. What I found was that it did not warp or bubble anywhere except for on the edge I cut. And the warping was minimal. I have three cats and one vomits frequently after eating. He could do it while we were at work and because it drys farly quickly so no warping from pet stains. The only problem I have ever had with warping while it's down in the house is under the cat water bowl where water might sit. Solution was to put a pet mat down. Overall we are highly satisfied.

I work with many manufacturers of LVT (luxury vinyl tile) that mostly fall in the $2-$4 / ft price range. For $.79/ft you cannot go wrong with this product. I have installed it in three projects thus far and recommended it to several friends. It is easy to install, durable, has a substantial backing, and looks great. I particularly like that it is a wide and long plank size - larger than most LVT's - typically LVT of this width and length is on the higher range of the price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great inexpensive flooring, easy to install but must take time to open all the boxes of flooring ... Great inexpensive flooring, easy to install but must take time to open all the boxes of flooring and sort before laying the flooring. First, the flooring is very easy to install, great price, and looks much more expensive than the price paid. The tools you need for the job are a tapping block, pull bar (Roberts model# 10-18-8), knee pads, and Titebond wood glue. I didn't but the spacers as I used the drop for the spacers. However, there are a few things you must do to ensure a great looking floor. First, since this is a "picture" of a wood pattern, the pattern on the boards will repeat. In addition, all the patterns will have a mirror image as well (see the pictures). So you may have four different boards, but the patterns are just mirrors of each other and they will not look good if you install them right next to another. The first thing I did was open up the number of boxes I would need and sort the boards by pattern. I found one pattern that had at least 5 boards of the same pattern and 3 boards each of the three 'mirrors' and this was only opening 8 boxes. The one thing I did not like about the flooring is the requirement that the seams be at 16" and the first and last board be at least 16". The other floating floors I have installed had a 12" requirement for seam spacing. Because the boards are long, if you have a small room, such as I did (13'), you will have to cut the first board to ensure you have at least a 16" board at the end of the run. This will cause your waste to be significantly more unless you plan carefully. The way I minimized the waste is I would lay out five rows before I began installing. I would cut 9" off the first board, saving the drop. Then the other boards I would cut anywhere from 16" to 25" off using the drop to use at the end of the run. This minimized waste and staggered the seams to give it a much better look. Also, I recommend keeping your waste until the project is done. I used some of the smaller pieces in closets, under the dishwasher, etc. Even with taking the time to sort the boards, doing the layout, I installed a 11x13 room within a couple of hours. The longest part was sorting and doing the layout!

I have installed another laminate floor (with underlayment attached) and found this one to be slightly easier to work with. Of course I haven't had it down for more than a few days so can't vouch for it's durability, but love the look and would definitely use it again if it turns out to wear well. I read some other reviews (I always check the one star reviews) and honestly don't understand the ones who say that they have extensive experience with laminates and found this one difficult to install. It's never "easy", but it was easier than the other one I used, albeit only slightly. I guess if you really manhandle it and wack at it you could get the snap together pieces to break, but I didn't have any issues.

We put this down in our living room and we are about to put it in our dinning room. It's beautiful and very scratch resistant. We tried taking a junk piece with a screw driver and it never made a mark. Easy to put down and goes well with dark or light colored walls. We will surely be buying more of this for our 2 upstairs bedrooms, so we are trying to save up the money to do so! It is such a great product at an unbeatable price. You will not be disappointed. Also pet friendly, we have 2 cats and our friend brought his dog over a couple nights ago. No scratches what so ever. We already had a water and coffee spill on the floor already. Easy clean up! Also toddler proof! :) Love this flooring, so glad we picked it. I added before and after pictures of my living room.

Having read the other reviews and searching all over for the right laminate, I chose this one and really happy with the outcome. It took me a good hour to figure out the first row and method, but after that smooth sailing. None of the planks cracked or chipped during install, this is a quality product. (has to be right, made in germany haha) Room was about 250 sq/ft, this is easy to install just do some planning and cutoff any damaged pieces and use the leftover plank for the staggered (and required) joints. For the carpet reducer thing at the entry door, I didn't like the manufactured ones so I just bought an oak T transition (this covers the laminate to carpet) and nailed that down. Worked great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great! Just bought the floors this week and all of the pieces seemed great with no damage. I have no experience putting in floors and I was able to do it by myself. Just ask your hubby to bring the boxes in because they can be quite heavy. Couldn't be happier with the look. :-)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not so great We were reluctant to buy this since it was only $0.79/sqft...afterall, you get what you pay for. My wife really liked the look of it and with all the positive reviews, we took a chance. The product showed up without any issues and install was very easy. The problem we're facing is normal wear and tear from 3 boys- 5, 10, and 12 yrs old. They're not animals by any means, just normal active kids. The main issue is it doesn't hold up to water. Even the slightest bit on a seem for a short period of time will cause the joint to swell. If the water is left for even 10 minutes, you'll have a problem. We installed this in our living room, dining room, and kitchen less than 2yrs ago and we're already looking for a replacement. We're open to recommendations.

It looks great and If you know what you're doing it's a easy instal and a great buy. I was skeptical at first laying a few planks down but the pictures don't do it justice for this flooring in person. If your Looking to spruce up your rental home or your current residence, I'd personally recommend it. It works great for me making money. You be the judge.
