CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 135 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Allure floor smells While this floor looks great, was easy to install it still smells even three weeks after installation. I installed it in a basement bedroom with a wood subfloor and despite using vinegar and a deordoriser the smell still is very strong indeed. If you have any ideas on how to remove the smell, post them here. August 20, 2010
Rated 2 out of 5 by TrafficMaster Allure plank flooring not resilient. My husband and I purchased 75 cases of this flooring to use in our home. When we purchased the house it was in need of many renovations which were really things that had never been finished in the house. It had bare plywood on the upper level floor which had worn through several layers of ply already. It was our first priority to get something down on the floor upstairs, but bought enough to do the basement, with bare cement, later on. After clearing the entire upstairs of furniture, we laid a new layer of plywood over the original layer, hoping to even things out for the new flooring. The flooring itself was very easy to put down. You have to be very careful and take the time to fit each piece snuggley to the last. It is very easy to cut the pieces with the score and snap system. Over all, the installation was very simple and easy to do. The problem arises in the durability of this product. It states in the name that it is 'resilient', giving the impression that it is tough and can withstand a lot of abuse. It can't. Small pieces of grit, caught under the leg of the sofa, and ours is a light weight type, can cause scratches on the surface of the flooring. A pot falling off the counter leaves a white chip/gash in the finish. We have had scratches appear everywhere without any obvious cause. The appearance of the scratch itself can be reduced by scraping it with your fingernail to remove the rough frayed plastic which is the result of the scratch. After having had laminate in our last home, I would have chosen it again knowing what I know now about the Allure Resilient Planks. Another note is in the area of what is underneath showing through...any small bump or bulge will show up, especially if the light hits it from a window. We found the joints between the new plywood underneath can be seen as a rise in the flooring, even though this sub floor was glued and screwed down securely. The floor needs to be scrupuloulsy clean before you put the floor down and continue to vacuum while you are installing to avoid any surprise bumps under your new floor. On a positive note, it does clean up nicely and looks good where it is not scratched. A lighter colour might be a better choice to disguise the scratches. January 23, 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by Looks expensive, but it isn't! This flooring is easy to install (I'm a 60 year old woman), looks great and the price is right. It does take patience and will take longer that you expect if you install it correctly. Large rooms go pretty fast, but cutting around doorways and corners takes time. It is easy to cut and trim pieces to size with only a utility knife and heavy duty shears. But the time is well WORTH IT! April 1, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Easiest floor ever? As Advertised! This floor is, in fact, the easiest floor I've ever installed. All you need to install is a tape measure, square, and a utility knife! I started by installing it in my kitchen, and was so happy with it, I also did a hallway and laundry room. The only down side to this product is that you can see a bit of scuffing. My dog can't figure out how to walk across any floor that isn't carpeted, so she digs in with her claws as she walks, and skids across the floor. From certain angles, you can see where her claws have scuffed the floor, but not scratched it. One cautionary note I will mention. This product is very flexible, and while this makes for very easy installation, it also means that it will conform to the shape of your subfloor. If you have rough and bumpy subfloor, your flooring will be rough and bumpy. Be sure you prepare your subfloor to make it as smooth as possible, and free of any debris before you begin. Rated 3 out of 5 by Installed great but later... I purchased this based on the reviews on this site and information I found elsewhere as I thought that information seemed realistic for what I needed in new floor covering. I followed the instructions closely in prep, temperature adjustment, installation and post-installation. About 1/2 the flooring (total about 500'^2) was installed on fresh 5mm mostly level subfloor and 1/2 on reinstalled and leveled subfloor. After a couple of weeks the flooring contracted in a number of places revealing the short-side seams. (The long-edge seams seem - ha - fine.) It also is prone to scuffs and nicks. Much more than I would have expected even given this is the lowest cost vinyl planking. That said, a number of folks that have come over have comments on "how nice the hardwoods look". The flooring has been down for 6-9 months, some installed during the summer and some in the late fall so temperature variance is not a factor. In cleaning, given the "exposed texture," I've found it important to vacuum and mop with the grain. Not a huge deal but it can involve some calisthenics. I'm surely not going to rip it all up with all the associated work. It's also not what I was hoping for but likely what I paid for. Pictures include one of the "field of seams", 2 scratches...one of which I don't know how it happens and the other (top) I dropped a cable splitter (not a real scenario at all...). The last being the a larger view. They do look good. April 23, 2013
