Answer:
This product is designed to be used in place of fiberglass batts insulation between two layers of rigid materials. It will work as thermal insulation. If you build stud walls and use this to pack the walls it can improve the R value of the wall. Of course reducing transfer of temperature by introducing a thermal break will be more effective

I am using the insulation in the wall BELOW my windows and heard a definite reduction in the noise level outside. If you get direct sunlight through the windows, you may get condensation if they are covered with insulation, so be wary. Read Less

I was looking for insulation to use in my house to cover an a/c unit that is permanently in the wall. I did not want fiberglass because I would be handling it a lot. Home Depot was the only store where I could find a type that contained no fiberglass. It's very thick and works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Easy to Work With I purchased this for the 6 crawl space vents at my cottage. I used every ounce of it. It was very easy to work with....no fibers, like from fiberglass insulation, to get on your hands or in your eyes. The R factor is less than fiberglass, but that is stated on the package. I sandwiched it between 1/2" foam, and 2" foam to stop any air leaks. Ordering it through Home Depot was great. The product came as promised to the local store, and I just went in to pick it up.

Your just have to pack the insulation material into some plastic material, also available at Home Depot, and tape it, so no water can get to the insulation material.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hassle-free insulation You do not have to wear any special gear to install this insulation. We have a baby and I did not have to worry about where I had it once it was delivered to our house. Absolutely no itching and no reaction. It was easy to tear with my hands when I needed to size it. I do think that it needs to be available in stores, next to that pink stuff, so that people know there are great options like this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good cost performance ratio I use this for acoustic treatment in recording studios. The cost is good, it performs well and its easy to work with. I also like the "green" aspect of using recycled materials.
