Agree with other unsatisfied customers...ours stopped working after 2 years also. Don't be fooled by the LG brand name (most LG products are pretty good but this one is not). Look elsewhere.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by marc Less than one star, stay away from this one
If you could rate "0" stars, this would earn it. So sorry I rushed to the store and did not take the time to read other reviews. It has appealing features, it they worked. The machine is noisy, and after just one year, runs nonstop without taking a drop of moisture out of my basement. It was not the cheapest model so thought I might be getting a better quality product. Not so. Another 200 dollars wasted and my basement is still musty.

I have owned 4 of these in 3 years. The only reason I continue with this model is that there is a cut out in my wall exactly the size of it. The previous owner of the house put it on a shelf and ran a drainage hose through the foundation into the driveway.Every model so far freezes up and stops dehumidifying, and it is not in a cold area (the average temperature of the area is 65-70 degrees). The company does honor the warranty, so if it goes bad inside of 1 year, call them. I have done this 2 times already. The problem with that is that the refurbished model they send is even less reliable than the new ones. Eventually I may have to alter this hole in my wall to accommodated a more reliable brand.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Handyman Dead after 2 years
We bought an LG refrigerator and love it so when we saw this LG dehumidifier on sale at our local Home Depot we bought it thinking it would be a good value. I sure wish I had seen the other reviews on this model before buying it! Ours has now died after 2 years - it runs but the coils no longer get cold enough to remove any moisture. This is in a room we keep at over 70 degrees.
Even if it hadn't died, it's not a great design. The water bucket binds and is very hard to remove and replace. Also the water bucket has to be removed before you can slide out the filter to clean it. Getting the filter back in is difficult because you can't see where it is supposed to go without lying on the floor.
We hooked up a hose to drain it so we wouldn't have to deal with emptying the bucket but the way the hose connects is really flimsy and it becomes disconnected if you even slightly move the dehumidifier.
Home Depot should stop selling this very poor product!

I purchased an LG LHD459EL on April 2, 2010. The unit worked fine until two days ago (October 16, 2011) when it all caked with ice. It's been manually defrosted twice since but freezes up again about an hour after it's turned back on. The basement it's in is warm: it's 68F. I'm disappointed that the unit has failed after 18 months.

I purchased two of these and both of them have stopped working. The compressor just stopped working on the one and the other would ice up. The coil and filter was clean and the fan was running but it would just ice up the evaporator coil while the other one just blows air. Neither of them will remove a single drop of water from the air anymore. Both units are now sitting in the garage waiting to be recycled. Save your money and buy something that will last longer than this piece of junk. Neither units lasted longer than 3 years.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by HOMEDEPOT1 DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!
AFTER WORKING WELL FOR A VERY SHORT WHILE, THIS PRODUCT MALFUNCTIONED. I LOOKED ONLINE TO TROUBLESHOOT AND FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. I WAS ASTOUNDED, THERE WERE NUMEROUS IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS. I CALLED LG THEY WERE VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND SAID IT WOULD COST ABOUT $239. TO REPAIR. ALSO I NOTICED THE NUMEROUS SAFETY RECALLS ON LG DEHUMIDIFIERS. I AM APPRECIATIVE MINE JUST STOPPED WORKING INSTEAD OF BURNING THE HOUSE DOWN.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 A complete disappointment
I've been through 3 LowGrade Dehumidifiers in about two years. The first one i had for a year and the basement flooded and it was ruined.(not LG's fault). I bought the same one, within 3 months it tanked when it worked great for 2 months, second month it got very noisy and it stopped working. I exchanged it for the same one at the end of the season last year which i used it for probably a few weeks. it seemed to work fine. I fired it up a month ago and it seemed fine, but one day it had a vibrating sound and it was pretty loud. It was then i noticed it kept running and it never turned off. after 2 days I checked the tank and it was dry as a bone. The coil was room temperature. This unit is toast. I would highly recommend this product to my worst enemy. Thank you HD for taking back this paperweight 3 times in a row.
