For the cost of this unit I have saved much more off my water bill. Great savings. I rarely write reviews but I needed to support a fix that can happen over time. Others have stated that the unit, after being installed for some time, begins to "leak", refill valve fills when unit is not flushed. This happened to me after a year or so of use. The cheap zip tie that holds the base of unit on the overflow will break, causing loss of tension, creating water loss. (That can add up to big money on the water bill) Simple fix. Put on another zip tie just as it was installed the first time. This zip tie is on the back side of the base, that compresses the overflow tube holding downward pressure for the flapper. Since I was already doing it I added a second as a backup. Two zip ties are better than one. (they also have Stainless Steel zip ties @HD if you really want to get extreme). If you read this before purchasing, don't let this deter you, and do yourself a cautionary action and add the second zip tie that comes with it on initial installation.
Problems: Begins to leak over time due to a zip tie that breaks on base holding onto overflow tube.
Quick fix: Put on new zip tie ( or 2 or 3)

Once my husband figured out how to install the HydroKit, it was easy to install the second one. We thought it was a good product until the plastic handle that came with the HydroKit broke.
After the second one broke, we decided this probably would be our last time we buy the BlueSource HydroKit Toilet Repair. Unless they come up with a metal handle, we are pretty much done with this product (see image).

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DIYdadOFthree Saves a lot a money, but you need to be aware of a minor flaw
The item works great. The first one I installed took longer than what it stated. Once I did , I bought a second one for my downstairs toilet. The device saves a lot of water.
The down side to this product is they have you attach the main "plunger" section of the tube with a zip tie. The zip ties deteriorates and can break within a year. First time I noticed this, it cost me $100 in my water bill alone because we weren't aware this had happened (imagine a toilet slowly draining and filling itself back up over 12,000 gallons); lost all the savings I earned the first year.
Now I just have to replace the zip tie before it breaks (usually every 6 months that the zip tie needs to be replaced; You just need to be sure you monitor it at least every three months).
*You can see how the zip tie snapped off in the picture

I purchased and installed 2 of the Hydrokits in my house 2 months ago and experience a significant drop in water usage. I can tell pretty exactly because I use a rain water cistern for the toilets in my house.
The install took longer than the advertised 10 minutes. For the first system it was more like 90 minutes but that included reading the directions and cleaning the tank before the installation. Second system took me about 45 minutes.
The instructions are very good and were easy to understand for me. The system is actually pretty complex and designed with a lot of thought behind it. The non-compatibility with a Mansfield flushing system should be visualized more prominently on the box and in the online description. I felt lucky when I discovered that it worked with my 2 existing different flush systems. I was not aware during purchase that there are toilet flush systems that might require a tank removal. The Zip tie issue mentioned by other customers is obvious and issues can be easily prevented by using a second stronger one. Due to this I only give 4 stars on quality.
Once the system was in use, I left the tank open for a day and monitored the water level inside the tank during each flush. I did some adjustments according to the instruction manual and it worked out nicely. It is also advisable to give a brief instruction to family members on this new system because it is not obvious that there are 2 levers in one and which part has to be pressed for what kind of flush. A sticker for the tank with short instructions or some obvious symbols would be nice. I know that none of the guests that I had in my house had realized that there is a "non-standard" flushing system installed. Maybe I should draw and hang up a big poster on "How to use it" above the toilet to make it obvious.
Overall I am very satisfied with this product. Sad to see that it was made in China and not in the USA. But at least it was proudly invented by USA plumbers - as it says on the box ;-)

The float control system was easily installed. The instructions included pictures which helped in the installation. May have been good to show optimum orientation in the toilet tank, as you need to be able to access the floats to set them. Takes some experimentation to determine the least volume of water needed to flush urine. Great product and worth the effort!

It wasn't exactly a tool-free, 10 minute installation for me BUT I would recommend this product knowing what I do now.
Be prepared. I had a toilet that was almost twenty years old so you may not have these same problems.
You may need a wrench to loosen the nut under the toilet that holds the old fill valve in place.
Buy replacement washers/gaskets when you replace the fill valve with the new one and also for the hose that goes from the wall to under the toilet tank.
When I used the Smart Nut for the fast fill valve, my hose from the wall to the toilet had to be replaced too. The remaining end under the toilet was too short for the hose from the wall to make a secure connection because the Smart Nut takes up some space which means the connector from the hose couldn't be tightened snugly against the Smart Nut. I replaced the old hose with a braided one (which had a smaller top end connector). I should have done that before now.
The plastic square nut on the end of the flush lever (handle to flush the toilet) had to be filed down to fit in the opening in the ceramic part of the toilet tank. I used a nail file for this.
They make a version with a button instead that will work where this lever nut doesn't fit or may be preferred. You can also order the button as an accessory online or from the company.
Customer service from this company is great! I got a quick response by email.
Once adjusted, setting 1 uses very little water.. Properly adjusted the 2 also works well. Both with just one flush!
I wish the handle was real metal instead of plastic. Not sure how the finish and that will hold up over time, but it seems to be working well.
Yes, I recommend! No more chains that get tangled or flappers that don't close properly. Also, it is quiet and fills up quickly. It's a great alternative to the old chain, ball, and flapper assembly not to mention the dual-flush was a reason I was considering just getting a whole new toilet.

This product is amazing. I am a single mother and over the years I've learned to fix thing in the house by myself since I have no more husband, and any of my past boyfriends were not handy. I was debating to buy 2 new dual flush toilets for my house (to save on the water bill) since the old ones don't work to flush them anymore. For the last 6 months we've been turning the water off on the toilets from the supply line every time we used the toilets. I was unable to hire someone since I am on a budget and to replace 2 full dual flush toilets can get to be quite expensive. So I decided to do it myself since I am very handy. I replaced everything in the water tank of the toilets since my toilets were about 30 years old and nothing inside them worked anymore. (Note that this kit comes only with the Fill Valve and Dual Flush Converter. It does not come with the Flush Valve Kit. For that you need to buy an additional Flush Valve Kit for about 12 dollars). If you only need to change the Dual Flush Converter and the Water Saving Fast Fill Valve, than that’s all you need. The first toilet took me longer because it was my first time. I also had to run to the store a couple of times to buy some tools to dismount the toilet tank and to clean it. I took out the whole old kit inside, and it was worth it. Since the first kit worked like a charm, the next day I went and bought the second one. The second toilet kit took me less to install since I was "a pro" now :) Both toilet kits worked the first time like a charm with very little adjustment. The instructions are very easy and I followed them to a T. I also watched videos on YouTube before I bought the kits just to make sure I am up against the challenge. I had them for about one week now and they are perfect. On the Dual Flush Converter, mine worked better with the blue float all the way down and the green slide all the way up. They still use less water on both flushes and they are saving me lots of $$. Over all I am very impressed with the quality and the great price. The only regret I have is that I should have replaced the kits sooner.

This kit is great. Good value, easy to install, easy adjustments. Can't advise on durability, as, I just installed it. But, it works as advertised.
