Answer:
The range will depend on the terrain and the type of antenna used. A standard antenna will provide a couple of miles range. You can see the output specifications in the user manual. This radio communicates on the 40 AM CB radio frequencies, and generally would not be on the same channel as a handheld FRS/GMRS radio. It can communicate with other brand radios that also operate on the 40 AM CB Read More

Answer:
The unit would need to be hard-wired to the car's battery using directions found in the manual.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap but works Very basic and small, which is a couple of the reasons for my purchase of this. Built in China, but what do you expect for a new CB under $30. It does not seem to have the 4 maximum allowable watts, because it appears to be weaker power wise than all others I compared it to so far. Speaker loudness is actually pretty good. The kit comes very complete and the power wires even reached my battery of my '97 Wrangler. Another reason I bought this over all other units which cost more, is it will just get dusty and possibly wet when going off road in that vehicle. So if it stops working, I will just buy another new inexpensive CB like this again, since at this price it is as cheap or even less than some used units, plus this one is digital unlike those older units. One nit picky negative, which is not uncommon in this price range, is that the power wires do not disconnect from the CB itself. My value rating is based solely on price. My quality rating is based on comparison of other Chinese items. And my overall rating is based on purpose for buying within this price point. Hope this helps and wish you good luck with whatever you buy. Thank you for reading. September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good radio for the money pick up was quick and easy.... nicelittle radio for the money...fit perfect in jeep dash! September 15, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap. Good beginner radio. Needed to exchange the first one. Depot gave me a discount for my troubles. However, the new radio has the same defect that my original had. Contacting the maker this around. If you have to turn the squelch up to 10 for the PA to function without interference, then chances are yours is also defective. May 5, 2015
