Answer:
What I did was pop out the mirrored reflector from the black plastic base, it hast four engagement pegs. I nipped off two opposing pegs then used their holes for the mounting screws. Replace the reflector and then the final cover piece.

Do you have comparable post caps that will fit your Veranda composite fence posts that are 4x4? I bought these in black but they do not fit at all. Why does your post caps not fit your posts?

Answer:
Yes, the light can be attached to a 4x4 vinyl fence post. The light is fastened to the post using a small set screw; therefore, you might have to drill a very small pilot hole into the vinyl in order to start the screw.

If the sizes matched up and you had a system to secure them like drilling through the side of the post.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love These This is one of the least expensive solar post caps they have and it actually puts out a lot of light, but you need to buy a roll of white duct tape and tape over the glass areas inside that facing away from the areas you want lighted and I also taped above the light and cut off any excess. I installed these as corner lights and the white tape inside is not even noticed.. It now puts out 2 to 3x more white glowing light.. Also I glueed clear pieces of cut plexiglass on top of each light and placed another piece under the light to keep water/bugs from sneaking in over time.. I will see how long these last..... Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy for the money, easy to install. Excellent power. I am really pleased with these solar powered post caps. They look nice and add nice lighting to my deck. Great buy. July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A good price I've had this solar lights for about 3 yrs now and they still work great. I will buy again when I finish my back decking. The only Cons. for this solar lights is that the cap locking is kinda weak but only on high winds they sometimes blow off. July 12, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap price. Cheap product. The price is excellent. Unfortunately, I got what I paid for. I've had these lights for a couple of months. The light that they produce is as expected. The are a subtle light meant to accent the deck. The problem is that they are simply made poorly. About half of them have a reasonably secure top. The rest are very flimsy. They could be made better with a simple tweak at the factory. Also, the screws are already rusted. Not good. Again, they were about $6 a piece. I kind of expected them to be of questionable quality. July 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 4x4 solar post caps black Looks nice in the beginning out of the box butt soon, he solarium a electric fades and look so or not. Price is cheap but product is also cheap. Very disappointed in product. Tried to clean the solar screen and it doesnot clean up. Boxes also missing screws and had to buy some. July 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love these! These Post Cap Solar lights are perfect for my family's needs! I purchased 25 for our board on board fence. They give off a nice glow from dusk till dawn, so pretty! They are great decorative solar lights. Depending on how you / your fence company installed your wood fence, you might have to trim the corners of the 4x4 posts, or the edge of any 2x4 cross supports to get the lights to go on even and tight. Overall nice product and very affordable. I purchased 7 at my local Home Depot, which was all they had on the shelf and I ordered the other 18 from Home Depot.com and was very pleased that I didn't have to pay for shipping and was amazed at how fast they shipped!
