Customer Questions & Answers

When can a pressure treated board be painted white. It is going to be used as a fasia

Asked by: Rodman
All the answers in this post are good ones. Just like decks and other outside projects, it's recommended that you wait till the following year to paint and stain because the wood is still moist. Instance, I built my deck late last summer, and I'm prepping and staining it late this spring or early this summer when all the wood has settled and dried out completely. Hope this helps!

If I purchased the 1 x 6 x 8 ft treated boards, could I get them ripped length-wise so that I have pieces 1 x 3 x 8 ft?

I need wood for repairing a garden bench and the treated wood cut to 1 x 3 would work. After curing out I would probably apply stain and sealer.
Asked by: Bob
Hello Bob, Home Depot does not have a saw to rip boards for customer. Thank you for your inquiry. Charlotte of the Home Depot Community.

Can I use this for inside my house? Is it safe?

I'm thinking of making bed frame from this. Is it safe to use it for that and have it inside my house?
Asked by: Jhay
Yes, pressure-treated wood may be used indoors for any application except cutting boards and counter-tops.

Customer Reviews

1 in. x 6 in. x 8 ft. Appearance Grade Pine Pressure-Treated Board is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for playground build I used these to separate a sandbox from the swing area and to keep kids from climbing off of the fort area. The boards were generally straight and smooth but I ended up sanding a few of them after a few months. I had one board split during installation and one split after a few weeks. Other than those two, the rest have performed well and look great after staining. There are more pictures and a full write-up of my full project on the smartdumbstuff blog.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from STOP!! 100 screws per board wouldn't keep these boards from twisting and warping! 1 week so far and I have replaced 4 out of 7 on my sons playground!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality control has to improve I used this product on a small deck to try it before I built a porch with it. There is a problem at the mill that has them stamping this wood on alternating sides of the boards. They are stamping regardless of the crown of the boards which forces the consumer to use them regardless of the crown. This results in a floor that has some boards cupping and holding water while others are not. It's a small detail to the mill, huge impact to the buyer! To properly use this you will have to cull the boards in the store pile to get only the ones stamped on the right side, crown up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's better than bad, it's good! My lumber yard was closed and I had to get started on a project. I was quite pleased when I saw these boards. I mean, I have purchased framing lumber from HD before and as long as I pick it out myself I can walk away with a decent haul but these boards all seemed to be pretty decent and I ended up only spending a few minutes getting what I needed. Price seems fair considering it is 4 side milled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Wood I used this wood for a flashing piece under my mothers carport to cover up where I removed laddice work that was there for almost 20 years. It had very few knots in the wood and once painted looked like a higher grade wood than what it really is.
