Thank you for your question. The fireplace should NEVER be used on a wooden deck or wood surface. It is recommended that you use the Weber Fireplace on a noncombustible surface, like brick, concrete or flagstone. When using the Weber Fireplace, keep it 10 meters/30 plus feet away from flammable materials, buildings and vehicles. I can't tell from the picture, but do the top and bottom collapse in case I want to bring it to a football game for tailgating?

Answer:
No - its wayyyyy to heavy for that anyway. its all bolted together...so you could spend an hour on both ends trying to break it down, but the top is solid granite. You're better off with something much smaller...like the heater that's already in your car...or stand over the bbq pit...or don't tailgate when it's below 40 degrees...

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! Easy to put together. Can be done alone but is much easier with another person. Nice & sturdy & gives off great heat all the way around. My kids made s'mores the first night & they loved the fire & the heat it gave off. Great buy definitely not disappointed. October 20, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Weber Outdoor Fireplace Great product so far (have only used twice). The only drawback is that there is no bottom grate to give some space between the bottom of the bowl and the wood for air flow. I solved that by buying the charcoal grate (not the food grate) for a Weber kettle and putting it in the bottom, which solved the problem. Note: the part at the very bottom (beneath the firebowl) is not an ash catcher, like on the kettle grill; it is a heat shield in case you are using this on a deck. Again, that means no built-in airflow in the bowl, which is why I think the charcoal grate is helpful. October 26, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Weber Fireplace Very disappointing product for a Weber. Top half sits loose and flops around and is made of a very thin sheet metal. I can see this lasting for a year if that. What is the purpose of the drip lid on the bottom if there are no holes to drain and you have to take the legs off to get the tray out??!! Looks nice from a distance, that's about it. May 14, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by fire it looks great, it's easy to assemble, high quality parts, i hope it last!!! i added a grill at the bottom so the the fire don't sit directly at the bottom. it allows the air to feed from under and raises up the fire. there are no protective side walls but i am looking to modify that too! i am happy with my purchase October 10, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Weber fireplace = jealous neighbours. Easy to assemble. Looks cool. The top of fireplace helps dissipates smoke so not so noticeable. Quality is top notch. Did i mention it looks cool. To get more airflow purchase a grill to place wood on, more oxygen= bigger flames. Mine is on a deck, it has a heatshield on the bottom to deflect heat. December 11, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fireplace Very nice and solid portable fireplace, by Weber. The only reason I cannot recommend to a friend, is that I found that most cities / municipalities in Canada won't accept this type of fireplace because it has no grill. I found out after my purchase... I'm in Gatineau, Qc. Cannot use it. thanks May 30, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the product--Weber always comes through I have wanted to purchase a wood burning pit from Weber since I saw the unit in a catalogue. We love it, and we know the pit will keep us on our deck for a few more months as the cold months come to Utah. And I may spend the entire winter not parked in front of the tube--while enjoying a fire outside and a fine winter's evening! September 25, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value This firepit is a great size and gives lots of open space for the heat and flames, but I like the cover to just keep flying ash from going into the trees so easily. This was a little bit difficult to put together by myself, with a helper, it would be very easy. It can be done alone, I did. I think it's a great product, and great size! May 15, 2011
