I was looking for a side by side refrigerator without an ice maker/water dispenser so this one was perfect. You do have the option to install an ice maker, but I chose not to. I love how it looks in my kitchen. It looks so much better than my previous white refrigerator.

I haven't had a side by side refrigerator for over ten years at least. I have a Samsung bottom freezer and a Whirlpool top freezer refrigerators before. I was getting very tired of not able to see what's in my freezers. I had to dig out everything in order to find out what I have in the freezer. With this side by side no ice maker/water dispenser refrigerator, I can see everything and organize my food neatly. Now I can put my seafood, pork, chicken, beef, breakfast, ice cream, etc. in separate slots and know exactly where they are without having to dig out everything to locate them.
I purchase this refrigerator one week before Thanksgiving and it arrived on 11/19/13. There was another Whirlpool refrigerator with ice maker on sale for like $899. Even though this one is more expensive, I chose this one because almost all the reviews (even the ones with five stars) for the one on sale said the ice maker drops the ice everywhere on the floor and starts to have problem shortly after purchased. I don't want to deal with any kind of repair or changing the filter every year. Besides, the freezer is so MUCH larger without the ice maker.
Overall, I am enjoying my new refrigerator (I love the freezer! It's huge!). I just wish the outside is finger print proof. What's the purpose of "Monochromatic" Stainless Steel if it's not finger print proof?

Rated 5 out of 5Â by doc7tor Improved Whirlpool side-by-side
Our 29-year-old Whirlpool side-by-side quit on March 5, so I ordered a NEW Whirlpool side-by-side, this time without the ice maker since I didn't want to be bothered with replacing solenoid valves or over-filling ice maker trays as we had experienced with the previous model. The plastic on the inside of the doors had cracked. Transparent packaging tape kept air and moisture from getting into the door insulation. Overall, it was an easy decision to replace rather than repair the old Whirlpool side-by-side.
The new model came on March 10. I was called a day prior to delivery and again less than an hour before it was actually delivered. We lost a lot of frozen food, meat and cheese. Anything in bottles and jars that I was able to put into an ice chest was fine since the temperature inside remained at 32°F / 0°C.
My new refrigerator was put into place by the two delivery guys. I saw that the freezer door had a 'crease' / 'dent' in the front where something had contacted it somewhere along the line. It probably happened before it was moved off the truck and into my house. I opted for a rebate instead of replacing it with another new side-by-side. That would have taken more days without a refrigerator and using ice / ice chests.
At this point in time the only negatives I have are
1) I would like more shelves in the freezer and in the refrigerator. I do not need 2 shelves with a lot of vertical room. If I have a 2-liter soda and a gallon of milk and some juice, I only need one shelf for them.
2) When the compressor is ON, something under the refrigerator vibrates, making a lot of noise. [ If anyone else has this noise problem, let me know what you did to solve it. I am considering putting something under the refrigerator so that the vibration cannot occur. ]
3) The stainless steel covers only the doors, not the sides of the refrigerator, and fingerprints and dogs leave marks on the doors that are difficult to remove. I did buy some cleaner specifically for stainless steel, but I haven't used it yet.
We shall see how long the shelves remain uncluttered with food that is left past its 'use by' date. Right now, a month after we got it, it remains uncluttered.
PROS: I have placed some thermometers in both sides of this refrigerator. I am using a dial type AND a digital type in EACH side of the refrigerator. Freezer temperature stays about -4°F while the refrigerator temperature is between 29°F and 33°F, depending on who opened the door and for how long. I like that the controls are in the front of the refrigerator. Also, I like that the unit has LED lighting inside. I should not have to replace any of the lighting - ever.
As for the Energy efficiency, I'll have to see how my electricity usage compares to the last few years. Maybe I can EDIT this later on the point of energy usage. It IS supposed to be an Energy Star product.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by KimDC Good for the price, a few features lacking
These are my first impressions.. It's a new product and I haven't had it long. I've been looking for a side by side without a water and ice dispenser for 2 years and finally..!
-side by side with no ice maker and no water dispenser to break or take up extra space
-large capacity and affordable
-the shelves are adjustable on so many levels.. i haven't experienced this before and am very pleased!
-quality of the shelves seem great- nice and sturdy
-no temp displays
-no door alarm
-stainless steel finish is not as bad as some manufacturers but wish everyone with get with fingerprint-free game. it has a slightly brushed finish which will help, but this is going to take a little more cleaning than my previous platinum finish samsung and hope it won't drive me crazy in the long run.
-depth of the freezer door shelves is shallower than the fridge door depth making them a little awkward.
-the doors don't swing open a full 90 degrees. You can still pull the shelves out fairly easily but not without some friction and risk of scratching the inside of the fridge doors.
Overall, I'm happy so far. It's good for the price. I do wish there were more options to choose from in the first place.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Moto Meets my needs... good product
I was looking for a good frig for my garage. This one hit the mark because it doesn't have a water option in the door nor does it have an ice maker. Due to this you gain storage space in the freezer. This was very tough to find in a side by side set up. If there is any criticism it would be that you have some limitation in the configuration of the shelving throughout based upon where they decided to place the brackets, etc. - especially on the doors. Also... it seems for some reason that when shutting the frig door there's a lot of rattling of the bottles and cans that are in the frig (specifically those on the door). Granted it's bottles and cans, but it just seems to give the frig a somewhat cheaper feel. Overall though it has performed very well for the first couple months of ownership. I ideally didn't want to spend this much on a frig for my garage, but as I stated it was exactly what I was looking for with the extra freezer space.
