Customer Questions & Answers

What are the knobs made of?

I've been looking at a lot of ranges in this price range and they all seem to have really cheap plastic knobs that get badly reviewed, even if the range overall is good quality.
Asked by: LBF2015
Seem to be some sort of plastic. Removable and easy to clean. I like stainless better but at this price point you just cannot get cool knobs too.

Sealing around the range edges?

Do you offer shims or covers that surround the range preventing food or material from sliding down the sides?
Asked by: OrangeChef
There are no such covers offered.

How do we convert this range to use propane?

The range will have to use propane not natural gas at my location.
Asked by: bobl0619
The oven comes from the factory with a conversion kit included.

can all the burners be adjusted to simmer food?

Asked by: yakman
In my experience, it is impossible to simmer on the 2 front (large) burners and the 2 medium burners. The only burner that I can simmer on is the 1 small burner in the back left corner. All the other burners are unable to adjust their flames down low enough, I assume this is to avoid having the flames going out with the gas still on if you adjust them too low. Also, there's a good 15-20 degrees of slack in the control knobs before it will adjust the size of the flame at all starting from the Off position, meaning it will reach a certain minimum flame level and stay there even if you turn the knob lower. I suppose this is better than having the flames die out with the gas still on.

Customer Reviews

5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 377.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing but trouble. I bought this range 4 months ago and it worked great for a month. Then when my wife went to bake something, the oven flashed a message saying that the fan speed was too low and it refused to turn on. I have spent the past 3 months trying to get Whirlpool to fix it with no success. I have spent dozens of hours on the phone and several days off work waiting for appliance repair men who never show and never call. Meanwhile I have an expensive piece of "art" sitting where a working stove should go. Now I must admit, it IS pretty, but if you want a stove that works, I recommend that you buy another brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Oven The oven seems to cook very evenly. We bought a house with this new oven already installed. It has been very nice to use and we have had few issues. There are a few items to note: 1) The first time it is used, it let off extra heat and/or smoke and set off the alarm. 2) it puts out a decent amount of heat during every use of the oven through the vent. 3) Don't drop anything down the vent, which is easy to do, because you can't get it back without disassembling the top of the oven. Its great looking and way better than an electric oven in my opinion, but could be improved. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer beware Although I purchased this range before there were many long-term reviews available, I'm now noticing a trend: the cooling fan for the front control panel is VERY prone to malfunction time and time again. It began happening to our unit just 5 months after purchase (we got the ominous F8EO error code). Service via the Whirlpool warranty is relatively easy and hassle free, but I have a feeling this issue will recur even after the fan is replaced, given the other reviews I've read. If I could go back, I would have purchased the slightly more expensive Samsung package with the front-control slide in range - I've never had an issue with a Samsung appliance and have owned them for over ten years! Is this what we get when we purchase things heavily marketed as American made? Yikes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Way Too Difficult to Clean We've had this range now since Jan. 2015, and although it cooks well, it is almost impossible to keep clean....particularly the oven. What do you use to clean the sides, back and glass door with??? The Aqua Lift cleaning for the bottom of the oven works, if you clean it every time, but that's all it does! I would like to know what product we can use to clean the racks and the oven? Easy Off, baking soda, vinegar, etc. do not work!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stove We bought this stove about 2 months ago and it's been working beautifully. The oven preheats fast and i love the heat the burners give. I will say, if you are not comfortable in the kitchen this stove moght not be for you. The heat the burners give is on the high side and might cause you to burn something as simple as scrambled eggs. I personally love the high heat, but for some it might take some time to adjust. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from what had happened was Ive had mine a year. I dont use it much. It looks good, works well and last night gave me that fe08 message or whatever it is while i was preheating. I hit cancel I waited and tried again I got stressed out Then i scooted itbout and unplugged for a few minuted and plugged it back in. So far thats the end of that issue. Oh yes, and my bottom drawer doesnt shut all the way, but then again, i never adjusted the feet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Model WEG730HODS I purchased this item in May, 2015. First 6mos. I had to have the timer replaced, which if something is wrong with that you can't use the oven. Today, I set the Bake to 375 degrees, and oven never got past 260 degrees. However, when I place an oven thermometer in oven, it registered almost up to 500. So I could not bake the recipe I just spent 30min. or preparing. I think this Oven is a Lemon. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My wife and I love this stove I bought this stove for my wife on her birthday and she loves it, but 2 months later the fan went out and now have to wait for the appliance guy to come and fix it, would be nice if it would work longer than 2 months good thing we bought waranty. Still like the stove but mow a little leary. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
