Awesome product. Bought 2, one for the room with the cat box (2 cats), and one for our master bedroom. Set it on automatic and just let it do it's thing. Coming home from a trip, the house always smelled of cat box, even with a sitter who cleaned the box. Absolutely no cat box smell now, and I'm confident that visitors wouldn't even know that we have cats.
Wish I had bought this product years ago.
As others have commented, the lights on the control panel are bright, and they light up our bedroom at night. No problem, just position a piece of cloth over the lights, being careful to not cover the air sampling port, and we're good to go.
My purchase experience with HD was also excellent. Customer service exceeded my very high expectations.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Katie Seems to be working well so far
I did a good amount of research. I am very much a penny-pincher so I must feel I am getting a good deal. We bought this to help alleviate an onset of terrible allergies in my son to something in our environment. All I can say is that after running this nearly daily for two months, he has had only one or two flare-ups compared to at least one flare-up daily prior to bringing this into the home.
I don't find it noisy. It makes some noise, but there are different settings if you need super-quiet. Remember, this white noise actually helps people sleep. The design is fine. I don't care that much. I would only say I wish it had a handle on the top bc we do move it form room to room.
I will have to buy replacement filters which makes maintenance a slight issue, but I can live with that.

This just what i was looking for. I first Tried the Honeywell 17000. Way to loud on med and high, which is where it has to be to clean 200 sq ft. So i got this one that will do 350 sq ft. So on fan speed 1 you can't hear anything it's so silent. Speed 2, still quiet sounds like a 20 inch box fan on low. But is moving plenty of air on that speed to do my 200 sq ft i was looking for. Fan speed 3 not to loud but i do have to turn the TV up a notch or 2. Then there is fan speed 4 turbo, that is loud. Maybe good for a party or something like that. The auto and sleep settings are nice. But i just leave it on Fan speed 2. Very happy with it. A nice clean smell and removes the smoke.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LSmith Just what I was looking for!
I was looking for an inexpensive air purifier that could improve the air quality in one room. This fit exactly what I was looking for. Not too big, nice design, hepa filter, and quiet motor. On low, you can hardly hear it running; on high, it is noisier. We keep it on low at night time and turn it up during the day. I plan to purchase another one soon!

I have it in the bedroom and after just a day noticed a big difference. Love the auto and turbo features.

I've had other air purifiers in the past. So I thought I knew what to expect. This unit exceeded my expectations. When I leave the room I'll often turn it to the turbo setting, which is understandably noisy, to return to my refreshed bedroom. At night, on its lowest setting, I can barely hear it. My bathroom is adjacent to my bedroom and it amuses me that the auto sensor senses my hairspray, indicates bad air quality and goes to work. Not only does our bedroom no longer smell stale, but it seems to have reduced my husbands snoring significantly. It's so quiet that my dog doesn't mind lying in front of it. But the real testament to this product is my skeptical husband. After 2 weeks of use, he told me to order another one for our downstairs living area.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by stevephillyburbs You will be pleasantly surprised with this unit
I have bought several of these types of units for home and work. I wish I had tried this before, I would bought more of these. Solid unit, lots of features, comes with a hepa filter and 4 pre-filters, plus the hepa filter is washable for a few times so it can last more than a year.
Given the features (4 fan speeds, dirt sensor, auto mode, plasma wave, remote control) and the sturdiness of the unit, it is worth at least this much money.
I have only had this installed for a few days but so far I can tell it is working better than before using this. Whenever I would turn the fan on I would immediately get congested - assumed from blowing dust. With this on, I noticed the air sensor went to solid red when the fan went on indicating dirty air. Anyway, has been cleaning the air as I'm not congested in the same exact scenario.
I had purchased a newer Honeywell model in the Home Depot store for less money but realized it was a cheap and inferior design with nowhere near the CADR rating of this unit. I returned it to Home Depot and had a hassle free return. This is a no-brainer, this unit with a year's worth of filters, and actually a washable HEPA filter, makes this the best value in a unit that has this CADR rating and square footage effective rating. Wish I had bought this before.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Krellek Record pollen counts no longer matter.
Bought this purifier in late March, 2012 during the record setting pollen counts. My wife would wake up multiple times during the night sneezing and blowing her nose. A few days after setting this up in the bedroom, she slept through the night and woke up when the alarm sounded. Will be getting a second one for the family room when I can afford it, meanwhile, it is getting carried from room to room. Would be nice to have a handle of some kind to facilitate the moves, but it isn't very heavy, so it's still easy to move. Also, it kicks into turbo mode while we are making the bed, so I know that it is sensing the dust being kicked up while fluffing the bedspread.
