I followed the instructions on this device exactly, and it does not work at all. Out of probably 50 attempts on three different walls, it only identified on stud consistently in the same place. Most of the time, it went into intermittent beeping, or didn't read anything. It is a complete waste of money. When I checked the reviews on amazon, I noticed that 11 people had the same problems I had, and only 5 reviewers had success with it. One person also mentioned that the e50 is a better model that will give consistent results. I for one will take this product back and hope I'll get my money back.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bigq It works - not much more to say
I bought this because my original studsensor Pro SL (purchased when there was only one to choose from) finally died. I opted for the e30 because the packaging implied the deepscan feature which I found really worked on my old one.
I haven't tried the wire-finder yet.
Just got done installing molding and the StudSensor did exactly what I expected it to do - found the studs! The new
laser arrow is cute, though not necessary. This is one of those tools that you need to keep in the toolbox. You might not need it today, but when you do need it you want it handy. I feel like I should have given it 5 stars, but with a couple of models costing up to $50 I suppose I need to leave room for improvement. But at $15 this is a must.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SWS What a great little device!
I read the reviews and was a little concerned it wouldn't work for me. Oh, my! It works like a dream. It found a stud everywhere there was a stud, and also found live wires. I was able to bolt a shelf to the wall through the studs, frame a wall and screw it into the ceiling studs. It worked every time. I think for those who had trouble, either their walls are too thick (read the specifications) or they did not follow the directions precisely. This device works great, great price, and saved me a lot of time!!! Love it!!

I got this, used it as the instructions said but it was still inconsistent. It wouldn't consistently find the studs. One pass found it, the pass from the other side wouldn't find anything, even the previously marked stud. Its entirely possible that the surface I was scanning was thicker than the width it attempting to find since i didn't tear up the wall but I did try it on multiple interior and exterior walls with the same inconsistent results.
No questions I'm taking this back for a better more reliable model.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RobK Easy to use, works great
I used this stud finder on recently painted walls to hang a tv wall bracket and a few towel bars.
It found the edge of the studs pretty much every time. I would duble and triple check, just to make sure, and the sensor would find the same spot every time. Very simple to use.

A previous customer "Handyman" purchased this product and confirmed this product is junk. The manufacturer replied and indicated that the product is only effective on walls without insulation, vapour barrier, and should only be used on hollow interior walls.
It would have been nice to have this sort of information before purchasing the unit, because I certainly would not have purchased it.
I've tried finding studs on hollow interior walls, and the unit is so sensitive, it's more of a paper weight than anything. I press & hold the power button to calibrate, wait, then slide it SLOWLY in one direction, immediately the entire thing lights up and makes all sorts of noises.
Save money, save time, save aggravation & find another better made product. I'll be returning this product ASAP.

Did not work properly. I had an old StudSensor (15 years old or more) that I've had for years and it works very well. Bought this one when I was away from home to help with a project for my uncle. It gave false positives and inconsistent results going over the same area multiple times. Don't waste your money. Took it back after two days of trying to get to work properly.
