Existing Floors Installation over existing floor requires the installer to consider potential issues related to moisture damage, adhesive failure and fastener failure. Contact the adhesive and fastener manufacturers respectively for their specific instructions, recommendations and requirements. Acceptable floor coverings include: solid hardwood, linoleum, terrazzo, ceramic tile and other “moisture sealing floors.” Please follow the detailed Flooring Installation guide located under “Additional Resources from the Manufacturer” on each product listing page. A:  I’d say medium variation, a small percentage of boards are noticeably darker. We like the variation, if you plan out where you want the variation it makes a nice look and it’s nice because it is real wood. 

A:  Being a natural Hardwood with this Wirebrushed surface texture we utilize character graded hardwood to meet our design specifications, this color Mavericks would follow into the light to medium in color variation. This character grade may include naturally occurring cracks, splits, knotholes, mineral streaks, filler for stability, etc. Due to the nature of natural hardwood flooring there can be a difference in samples and the received product due to a variety of issues, including color/tone, naturally occurring character imperfections such as knotholes and mineral streaks, etc, as well as grain orientation. One major influence of how the floor will look is the lighting in your home. Artificial lighting, LED daylight or natural lighting vs. Yellow Halogen/LED will change the color visual of your hardwood vs natural lighting coming through windows. Hardwood Samples are available online in a 5" x 7" format. Unless multiple samples are purchased it can sometimes be challenging to see the true color from such a small sample size. The Room visualizer utilizes approx. 5 planks with some variation which are then repeated throughout your room you loaded into your Visualizer.

A:  Suggestion if you are using your existing wood stairs/stair Treads or you want to stain an unfinished hardwood tread or riser would suggest you take a medium tone (light, medium, dark planks choose the middle color range) prefinished flooring plank to your local Home Depot store's paint department and develop a custom stain that will coordinate with the flooring, then stain and finish the moldings as needed. Stair Risers are usually painted white or unfinished and purchased at your local home depot store
