This is a truly stunning fire pit! I wish Home Depot would let me post more than 1 photo. However, for the price of this kit, the design is somewhat poor. There is either an issue with the quality control, or the molds for the concrete bricks are near end of life. The bricks are not even heights and therefore no matter how hard you try, you can't level out the top 2 of the 3 layers. See my image to note the significant difference in height. This would be the expectation of a $200 kit. Delivery was fantastic though and very easy process!

A great addition to my back yard. Built it solo and looks great, if it will stop raining I look forward to burning some logs and enjoying with friends and bourbon.

Awesome DIY kit
The fire pit was relatively easy to assemble. Looks great. I had it delivered luckily because it was 1500 lbs, we had to carry it piece by piece to the back yard because of the weight. Like this kit because it came with the metal ring.

Awesome project. Great results
Great early summer project. Took about 5 hours with my son. I actually rented a flat plate tamper to prep the ground and the stone. Great finished product .

Easy DIY with a professional look.
This fire pit is a simple step-by-step build that's easy for even the most amateur. If you want to get the blocks to line up and stack properly, be prepared to spend a couple of hours making adjustments and even then the final alignment won't be perfect. However, if you're not an engineer and don't want to measure and plan out a fire pit but still want a professional look then this is the fire pit for you.

Labor Day porject
Looks great. The pieces vary a little in size and it's a bit of a puzzle getting it together. If you are placing within a new patio you may want to build it first and have the patio poured around it. It is a little bigger than the 60"

Great Fire Pit
I looked at having a stacked stone fire pit built for me and then saw this on-line at Home Depot. Watched the video on installation and decided to give it a try. With about 1 hour if prep time, me and my 15 year old daughter put this together in less than 2 hours. Very happy with the results.

Nice fire pit!
It was definitely a workout and it took me about 3 1/2 hours to get it just right. Looks great in our backyard and the size is perfect, much bigger than others I've seen.

A great way to add ambience to your home.
The kit is package well on a pallet and comes with three additional top stones in case of breakage... none was experienced. A friend helped me assemble it, which took less than a day. The most timely part of the process was leveling the first layer, as the ground at my desert house is very rocky. (It would have gone much faster with a different kind of soil for a base.) Rather than use the outer ring to form the circle, I assembled the steel inner ring and place it, in order to measure off of that. I think it did help in my case. The layers are held together with concrete cement from a caulking gun, and one full tube was used. The only gripe is the spacing of the joints for the top layer of stones. They have wide gaps facing outward, and any attempt to adjust them proved futile. They still look fine, but i may go in with some mortar to fill the voids. (BTW, I watched an online assembly video from the manufacturer, and it looked liked theirs also had similar gaps.) Overall, it does look great, and I look forward to using it when the weather cools in my area. It will be a great place to gather friends, and the random stone colors look great.

    Excellent Firepit!
We wanted to build a firepit / patio in our back yard, and after much searching, we decided to go with this Random Stone firepit, primarily for it's size, but also for the design. We wanted something rather large, and the 30 inch ones that we found just weren't cutting it. This was VERY easy to put together using the supplied instructions (and the video on this page) and we were exceptionally pleased with how it turned out when all was said and done. We used pea gravel for the outer part of the ring, and black lava rock for the burn area of the pit. After we build the patio around it, we were even more happy with how everything turned out! We have already gone through ridiculous amounts of wood staying out late, enjoying our new haven! Highly Recommend!

      Love it!
It was very easily to assemble. We love the few different nuetral colors, easily blends with the yard. I was only disappointed to see that no bottom pan was included for wood placing. All in all, very happy with this purchase.

Next time maybe I'll it build from scratch.
I've been doing projects like this for years. I'm not an amateur. This was a difficult job. Blocks did not fit together as I would have expected for a 500 dollar kit. Directions for measurements were not correct. With lots of trial and error I was able to wiggle and shimmy all blocks together to look rather nice. Time will tell how it holds up. You will need to buy a tube of construction adhesive to glue the second course of blocks plus the cap stones. This they did not mention online.

      Excellent Fire Pit
Fairly easy to assemble, considering the area where it was placed had some slope. Getting that first ring of blocks leveled took some time, but once that was done the remaining assembly went quickly. Liked that (2) additional cap stones were included...may come in handy if one on the pit gets chipped or cracked. Recommend buying (3) tubes of adhesive...I got an extra tube before I started the assembly just in case the recommended (2) wasn't enough and I used all three tubes. I dug some additional drainage room (about 10" deep) inside the metal ring before I filled everything with pea gravel and lava rock. If you add drainage room inside the pit, you'll need additional gravel/rocks to fill the drainage hole. I bought a 40" folding spark screen which fits about 2" inside the metal fire pit ring and used bricks stood on end to support the screen. I set the bricks on top of an additional brick for support (like an upside down "T") and to raise the support brick up to be level with the top of the metal ring. It works great and was much less expensive than an extra large/custom built screen. Also like the fact that screen doesn't sit on the cap stones. Overall, it's exactly what I expected. Random stone colors match the stones on our house and custom grill island. Price is a little high, but don't mind it so much considering the quality and how it turned out.

      Excellent Product!
Easy to assemble once you have a level base and first coarse. I installed this on ground with a slight slope so I highly recommending using a gravel base so you can make easy adjustments while leveling the first row of blocks. I used 10, 50 pound bags of gravel to fill the inside of the ring and the space between the ring and the outer wall. Also, paying the extra fee for home delivery was worth every penny!

Takes a little patience ... .but it's well worth it
For a prefab kit this is probably as good as it gets. If you assemble this on terra firma, and not concrete, expect to do quite a reasonable amount of assembly, disassembly, and reassembly to get it all level in all directions. Kit ships well packaged. Comes with 2 extra top stones which is good. Watch the video for assembly instructions. Suggestion: get a long level or attach one to 2x4 to ensure you are level across the diameter of the fire pit as you assemble. Being level block by block is not good enough. Once built, it looks great and works great. My only gripe about this pit is that some of the edges and also the top stone undersides have some extra residual concrete from the manufacturing process. If you want it all to fit tight and clean, you 'may' need to do a little chipping and filing to get a snug and even fit. All in all, it's a good product. IMPORTANT: Use reconstituted concrete, virgin rock, drain gravel, or lava rock for the gravel parts of the assembly. Yes, you need quite a bit of gravel to finish the assembly, 6-8 Cubic feet. I would suggest not using river rock or pea gravel as it can pop just like popcorn when it heats up. This DIY kit sure beats the $4k I was quoted to have built by a landscaper. Couldn't be happier.

      Great Product!
After doing the prep work we proceeded to the Home Depot in our Toyota Four Runner. With the assistance of the Home Depot Staff we loaded it in and brought it Home. We started unloading it at approximately 3:00 in the afternoon. At sunset we started our first fire! Did I mention my wife and I are 61 years old! Very easy to put together and we couldn't be happier.

        Good looking fire pit
The fire pit was a little pricey but not much different than other similar products out there. Good directions for installation. Excellent folks at Home Depot to deal with (this was at the Iron Mountain Michigan store). The outside stays cool to the touch no matter how large a fire is made. Excellent for roasting marshmallows with the kids/grandkids.

Excellent fire pit! Exactly what I wanted!! So happy :)
We picked up the pallet of parts at our local Home Depot. Because I have a ramp on my trailer, they were only able to get the pallet barely to my trailer axel, so it rode pretty heavy on the way home. Fortunately I didn't have to go far and could take residential roads. Off-loading it by hand was difficult as each piece is very, very heavy. Used the lawn tractor/trailer rig to move the pieces to the fire pit site (thank heaven for the little trailer - moving these by hand would have been hard). Prepared the site, drew a circle and followed the directions. This went together so easily and quickly. Just make sure your site is level and the rest is really super simple. It looks exactly like the picture, super solid and easy to assemble. We used about 6 bags of pea gravel for the space between the metal ring and the stones and another 6 bags of that reddish lava rock for the center. Also we used about 1 1/2 tubes of landscape concrete cement. Loctite brand. It's solid!! We added a little brick boarder around the base of the fire pit, flagstone and gravel seating area and a small block retaining wall around the perimeter. I wish we were done with the landscaping on the hill behind it, but that's a work in progress! :)

          Back yard fire pit
The delivery was good. The packing was excellent as no stones were broken. The installation instructions were very good. Buy the stone adheshesive and gravel ahead of time. I bought 2 types of stone. A leveling gravel for the first row of blocks and larger stone to install in the middle and around the metal band. Overall it took a whole day. Only thing I did not like was some of the cap stones had air holes in them. This didn't look to good. So I put those as my extras in case one of the ones I installs breaks or gets cracked.
