When you're starting to dive into a major DIY job, you might not have everything you need in the shed. That's when you should stop by The Home Depot Pontiac Tool Rental Center.
Tool Rental
Our tool rental options enlarge your toolbox with the precise tools you require to complete a DIY job. It's impractical to get a specialized tool when you're rarely reaching for it. When you're looking for a new tool, give it a spin before you select which to purchase. Whatever your situation, we have the tools you're looking for.
Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Make the most of warmer weather to paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get professional coverage and work much faster than you would with a brush or roller and a paint tray. Rent scaffolding and ladders to reach elevated surfaces when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for small to medium jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're ready to get that job done.
Rent Air Compressors, Power Tools, Nailers, and More
Tackle serious jobs with reliable power tools and air compressors. Take your finish carpentry to the next level with nail guns and power sander rentals to get all your work smooth and cleanly fastened. Construct a new wall, shed, or house faster and more efficiently with construction nailers, impact driver rentals, and other tools that suit your project.
Load 'N Go Trucks
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep flatbed trucks on hand. We'll have the right size for your project so you can keep your job on track. As your source for DIY projects, packing, and storage needs, it's smart to make us your source for truck rental as well.
Whether you're searching for power tools like table saws, large industry tools such as concrete mixers, or everyday tools like drills, we've got you covered. We'll even rent you the vehicle to get it to your project site or home. Let us help you complete your DIY project with the right tools and transport for the project.
How do I rent a tool or a truck?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. You can also read our truck rental or tool rental pages to see if what you need is available at your local store. For more info on renting tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent tools by the hour?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you complete your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any mud or dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a moving van or truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the terms and conditions before you decide on a van.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
