Answer:
I've used chip brushes with oil primer, just so I didn't have to worry about clean up. (I then painted over with latex paint, with a really good brush.) You can probably get one good use out of them. I wouldn't recommend them for a fine finished look, but if you don't mind a little "rougher" surface, they'll be fine.

Answer:
Chip brushes (while made of natural bristle) are not recommended for use with any paint, oil based or otherwise. They do not hold much product, leave a lot of brush marks and will drop bristles in the finish. Chip brushes are ideal for clean up work, solvents, adhesives, paint removers and other non-finish applications, but not for painting.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by perfect for the job Bought this paintbrush to touch up small spaces. It worked well and at this price was disposable. May 5, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Brush These are good, basic brushes. We have used them for years without complaint. Like the natural bristles. We use them for paint, varnish and dusting. March 11, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Don;t set your expectations high This brush has one intended use; cheap finishes! Bristles will fall out in the paint. It is a cheap brush ideal for certain uses. Leaves streaks in the paint/primer but I knew that going into my project. I find these great for projects where I don;t need a fine quality finish. Sometimes I prefer fast & easy over slow & fine! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by For painting mullions with oil primer A professional painter would laugh at you, but this brush and a steady hand will give you great advantages. You will be relaxing while the pro is still cleaning his brush with paint thinner. But of course you too can get a few more jobs out of this brush if you want to rinse it with mineral spirits rather than throw it out. I always keep two of these babies in my arsenal. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not worth it This product is not worth it! You are better off using a rag than this brush. There are very few bristles, they are not as compact as a quality brush. As a result each brush stroke leaves it looking streaky. Also since there are comparatively less bristles paint easily drips out when you load the brush. Don't bother with this. November 25, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Quality/value These brushes are perfect for jobs that you need a disposable for and small touch ups where you might want to clean them up after. I found after repeated use bristles stay intact. I've used them for jobs using Marine Resin to latex paint and have been very satisfied. February 25, 2010
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Inexpensive, Get What You Pay For It works great in sweeping off wood chips, dust and what have you. Wouldn't use it for painting. February 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great utlity brush well worth the price for quick jobs that do not require a superior quality brush November 18, 2011
