will it work under water

Asked by: joeybar
Being water based I really, really, really doubt it. Why would you have an air duct underwater? An air duct underwater is going to need to be very special.

Customer Reviews

10.5 oz. Water Based Duct Sealant Tube is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! I was hesitant to buy this based on a few negative reviews. Those folks must have gotten product long past it's shelf life. Came out of the tube just fine and was very easy to work with. I used an old, gnarly but quality bristle 1 1/2" paint brush. It cleans up with water. Not soap and water - just water. Very easy to apply. Google "air duct sealing" to see how to use fiberglass drywall tape along with the mastic for large gaps.

First used it to install downdraft duct work for a cook top unit, and it saved time, seals 100%, and is very sturdy. On curved surfaces tape can't match it. Then I tried it on carpenter projects as a filler, and wow - I will never go back to wood fillers or auto body putty again. It was great for outdoor use as well to repair a rotted window sill.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quite OK, contains VOCs The manifacturer hides behind different names, the MSDS shows presence of VOCs that are not listed nor mentioned on the product. Thus 3 stars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this I purchased two tubes of this stuff. I opened the first tube and it was dried out. I picked up the second tube to find it had already had the tip cut open. It was dried out too. Must have been returned to the store and just placed back on the shelf. Totally unhappy with this product and the store.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sealant was dried up inside the tube! Right after I bought this sealant from Home Depot, I placed it in my caulking gun, cut off the tip and punctured the seal, but when I squeezed the gun, the only thing that came out was a smelly, clear liquid that dripped all over the place. Everything else inside the tube had dried up. Frustrating!
