I am looking for hoses that wont break and flood my house ???

Asked by: dmackayengineer
should not be an issue if properly installed. The most frequent error is twisting the hose while tightening. Ensure that you have a good seal with your rubberized gasket, (not plastic) and this hose should last as long as the appliance that it connects to your water supply.

Are these hoses that shut off if there is a burst? I do not want that.

Asked by: Ozzy
They are not auto shutoff hoses.

flow restrictor insert on washing machine water lines

Just finished changing the hoses on my washing machine (as I've read should be done every few years) and noticed both old hoses have a small blue plastic insert where they connect to the tap that the new hoses don't have. I assume this is some sort of flow restrictor. Being somewhat pressed for time I installed the new hoses as-is but now wonder if I should have removed the restrictors from the old hoses and attached them to the new ones. Any thoughts on this?
Asked by: poolguybob
Hello poolguybob, The inserts you mentioned might have indeed been flow restrictor's though they aren't as common on washing machine hoses as others. Alternatively you more commonly find debris screens and washers. I wouldn't worry too much about replacing the inserts into the new hoses unless you notice a functionality hit. Do make sure that there is still a washer of some sort in place on both the valve and machine side. I hope this helps. Cheers, Chris

3/4 in. x 3/4 in. x 5 ft. Stainless-Steel Washing Machine Hoses (2-Pack) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vacation Peace of Mind..... I replaced the old washing machine hoses prior to going on vacation. The old ones (rubber) looked okay to me but were about 10 years old. I had heard some horror stories (neighbors) of hoses breaking while the house was vacant and I took it as a signal that I should probably change my old hoses. The new stainless steel hoses went on easily with no leaks. I also took the opportunity to install water hammer arrestors on the washing machine input valves (hot and cold) at this time. Smooth hot and cold water transition with secure laundry operation is the overall result and the stainless steel hoses were the furthest thing from my mind for this year's vacation..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Two different size hoses in package It was easy to install these hoses on my maytag washine. After I finished installing them I noticed that one hose was thicker than the other one. Nothing in the directions talked about this .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Hoses I picked these hoses up because our old washing machine hoses seemed to be clogged as I wouldn't get water to flow into the washer. These hoses are rubber with a stainless steel braided cover to provide protection from rubbing. We bought the 5' length, though that's probably longer than most will need. The advantage to this length is that I don't have to disconnect them if I want to pull out the washer for any reason. The disadvantage is that the length can make it a challenge to get the hoses to coil neatly behind the washer when it's pushed back against the wall (think about your garden hoses...) As with all threaded plumbing connections, I'd suggest using some plumber's tape to help get a good seal and would also suggest using a wrench to securely tighten the connection. Be careful to avoid overtightening!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A frustrating waste of money I just installed these to replace the rubber hoses that came with my washing machine. While the hose that's connected to the hot water works fine, the hose that's connected to the cold water keeps kicking in the "flood safe" feature and shutting off the cold water supply to the washing machine. Imagine the joy of your clothes not rinsing because these substandard hoses shut off the cold water! The "flood safe" feature also shuts off the cold water supply during the spin cycle. I had to haul buckets of water from the bathroom to finish my one and only load with these new hoses. They're going back to Home Depot for a full refund.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product that installs easily Product arrived in a timely manner, was easy to install, and there were no issues. It would be a plus if sediment filters were included as they should be used for a new installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are the right answer You can save a little money with rubber hoses, but these are much more reliable - especially when they get 5 years or more of age, and water all over the place from a broken hose outweighs the small extra cost,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaky connections I got these hoses with my new washing machine and it was impossible to install them without a leak at the shutoff valve. I inspected the rubber washers and they were fine. But still I got a leak around the connection. Finally, I just put my old hoses back in and no leaks.
