How do I lay the drainage fabric when using perforated pipe?

Does the fabric wrap around the pipe, surrounded by gravel. Or does the pipe sit on gravel with fabric surrounding gravel and pipe?
Asked by: Jay
I would put the pipe and stone inside the fabric as to keep the dirt from mixing in to your stone. If you just want to wrap your pipe then get pipe sock.

I've used the Nylon Septic Fabric Drain Guard for a French drain that I built in my back yard, in Arizona. The fabric was easy to size, cut and lay out for the drain channel. I also use it to cover the French drain prior to spreading the final layer of river rock. I wanted to insure that the drain would not get 'clogged' with mud and debris from the desert. I tested and determined that the fabric is porous only for water passage. It is strong and did not tear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price, seems to be sturdy in spite of light weight We're just putting it down on the septic leach lines. It is slightly too narrow so we had to put down two runs overlapped in the middle but I knew that when I purchased. The price was low enough to make it cost effective to do that. This is a thin gauge material that is ideal for septic leach lines but is still pretty tough. It hasn't been ripped by the Manzanita root remnants that still stick into the trenches. Only negative at this point is that something got on it at one point of a leach line that basically dissolved it as well as the plastic peanuts in the leach field material. No idea what it was or how it got there. Fortunately, plenty of excess to repair.
