Because my lawn mower has mulching blade, I had no grass clippings to compost. I waited for some fallen leafs, then for warmer weather-both came thru on Nov 15. I have old pile of compost with harder stems on top. Those were not composted yet. I have spread over those stems layer of leafs, over leafs I tossed 2 cups of compost starter, over I tossed my kitchen scraps from vegetables, crushed egg shells and used coffee grinds. Followed a thin layer of leafs, topped with composted horse manure I still had in the bag since last fall. I topped all that with remaining leafs, and sprayed plenty of water over. Maybe a week after we were hit by cold weather with few freezing nights. Then few days were warmer, and cold and freezing nights again. Because of so crazy weather pattern I expected that all composting process takes longer time. Last week temperatures are running between 36 F and 17 F. Today, almost after 4 weeks since I started I went to check the compost pile and I could see, that bacteria did some job during probably the first warmer week; the vegetable and fine parts were composted, some leafs were partially composted-means: compost starter worked. But unfortunately, extremely low temperatures stopped all processing. Rest of composting has to wait until the spring.

New home, new garden, new compost pile! Since I have to start a new pile for my peelings and other organic matter I decided to use this product to help speed up the composting process. It's been a few months since I began and after several turns of my pitchfork I seem to have some nice compost to spread on the garden. I've had composts in the past that took a long time to break down, but this time I can use it much sooner than before. I'd like to believe that this product helped speed up the process so I will definitely use it again!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by werewolfv I would not recommend buying this product
It was the second bag of a compost starter I bought. As the first bag did not produce much result in 2 weeks, I decided to "increase the dose" and got the second one. Well, it looks like the organic material in my compost bin turning into compost on its own with the same speed as where it is covered with this starter. So why to spend the money on something like this? All the advertised "aggressive" microbes and bacteria do not seem to produce drastic and readily visible results...

I read the instructions and used it in my composter. After adding some water and turning the pile in a week, I noticed a change in consistency. You still have to work and tend the pile. This product just enhances the decomposition as it is supposed to do.

I purchased the Compost Starter at the same time as the Composter. As it turns out both of them are a total waste of money. I followed directions for both of them and neither of them works. Before purchasing them I read the reviews, and other than a few people having problems putting the composter together, everybody raved about these products.

I would recommend this product to anyone who is interested in trying; however, when I opened the bag a rush of manure smell came my face...hmm...not strong, but definitely not weak manure smell. It's chicken droppings, bone and blood.
I forgot about the bag being left open because I was interested to add it in immediately to my compost. when I finished the small task, in about 3-5 minutes, turned around and the scent coming from the bag attracted fly's all over it. (nature confirmed it, it's animal droppings).
I liked it, although I cannot prove that it IS organic; however, it did help out my compost speed up about 1 week sooner than my usual method.
I have a tendency to compost in things from my backyard into my tumbler. Pretty much leaves, grass clippings, veggie/fruit left overs and water. Never had a problem. Always had great success
I wanted to experiment, and was pleased that yes it does work, and I believe you can enjoy it but I can be patient and wait it out. I'm in no rush to compost with animal waste.
SO! to anyone who is out there and cares about what they put in their compost pile and is doing it by no animal by products, well then, this is not for you. Just a heads up

I have 6 compost bins in my backyard an have used many different compost starters over many years. This is the quickest one I have ever used. By the time I have cleaned up all the weeds (about a month's time), I have 3 or 4 of the bins (4ft x 4ft x 4ft) filled to the top with compost starter laced in-between the layers of weeds. This year I put Jobe's on 2 filled bins and in 2 weeks they were half full (composted down). The remaining weeds went on top of the now half filled bins along with another application of the compost starter. That means that I only have to turn 2 bins this year.
I use this good rich compost to start my vegetables inside in the spring and to replant them in the garden and to plant new bushes. Looks like I'm not going to have to wait until spring for this year's batch of compost to be ready.

Followed the directions for the first 2 months. Added the appropriate amount of started, ensured it stayed moist but not wet, but haven't noticed much compost development compared to the previous year I had been doing it on my own. Perhaps my compost is just in the wrong location or I'm not adding the right material.
