I run water from my kids pool through this heater to make it more enjoyable, so my purpose isn't very conventional. Even so, I was quite impressed with this water heater as it replaced a Steibel Eltron the was very problematic with the flow switch not working and the Steibel limed up real bad. This thing heats the water quickly, and the flow switch to enable to heating elements is simple and works great compared the the Steibel. I currently don't have a wire gauge large enough to run this unit on the top heating setting, so I use the second setting and have to say even that works great for my purpose.

We have this installed in an outbuilding on the other side of the pipe that runs to the house. because of this, we couldn't connect to the house hot water heater. This is perfect for hand washing, dish washing and other small things. We use it in an area where we are taking care of puppies and need to make sure there is no cross contamination. The water gets hot enough that we don't have to worry about that. I would not consider using this as a full time shower or for filling a bath tub. The amount of power it uses would be cost prohibitive.
Installation of the piping was easy. Pretty much, connect it to the water source, (we used red and blue flexible plumbing pipe) and then connect to the sink. Plug it in and you almost have instant hot water!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gallus Don't let the small size fool you
I was shocked at the small size of the package. Surely this was not a water heater. Even the point-of-use water heaters that I've installed have taken up five times the volume of this mighty mite. But the 6AWG wires are pretty convincing. It means business with 8500 watts at 240 volts. Some precautions -- it needs to be installed in a low-flow showerhead. Do a little bit of math before you start -- we measured the flow through the showerhead, the initial temperature of the water, and found that our degree rise was within the range that's possible. It's back to high school chemistry for a little m*c*delta T. But the math (and the unit) are very much worth it. This little thing produces hot water, as long as you don't try to make it produce more than it's able.

I wanted to add hot water to my 3,000 sq ft workshop. As the workshop is not used everyday, I didn’t want to add a wasteful tank water heater, so this instant hot water heater seemed ideal.
Installation is very simple, requiring you run 220v power and a 1/2 inch water pipe to it. I used Romex SIMpull 6-2 Type NM-B , and PEX piping, both from Home Depot.
Like most instant water heater, this unit suggests you add a flow restrictor aerator. I tested with the flow restrictor attached and was able to get as high as 130 degrees, even with the restrictor removed I got a very comfortable 105 degrees at full flow.
The heater has a very small footprint and can be installed under the sink if desired.
The heater has 3 heat settings, controlled by two switches.
Clean up in my workshop just got a whole lot quicker and a whole lot more comfortable.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HDer Works well but limited applications
product installs fairly easily if you are familiar with basic plumbing/soldering or using shark-bite type connectors. this cannot be used for more than 1 fixture either sink or tub/shower NOT BOTH. relatively easy and small to install under inside or behind the vanity or tub/shower. Provides virtually instant hot water to the spigot. Saves energy especially if you are used to using electricity via a standard hot water tank. this unit only fires up upon demand! Down side is you will need 1 unit per fixture so that means 1 for laundry 1 for each bathroom fixture and 1 for the kitchen. I expect if statistics are true to form they will more than pay for themselves in less than a year!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BajaMike Great compact appliance, simple to install...........
This product is simple to install, assuming you have 240v power readily available. It is well built and attractive enough that in many settings you would not feel the need to conceal it. The compact design makes it easy to place almost any where. Customer service is very helpful if you should have any questions.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by oldjohnsr Very nice waterheater
The Super 900 Series 8.5 kW/240-Volt Tankless Electric Instant Water Heater is a very good water heater. I have wondered about the tankless water heaters for a long time and I must say that I am very impressed with the super 900 series. It is a great size making installation simple. The water heater is just for my downstairs bathroom. I'm thinking of purchasing a larger one for the rest of the house. I will have to wait and see if the electric bill goes up but I don't think it will very much.

I recently bought another home which is a real fixer upper. I cannot move in until a lot of work is done. One of the things about the new place that I didn't like was a water heater next to a washer and dryer in a closet, in the bathroom of the disabled in-law suite. Unfortunately, the water heater took up so much room, that the king sized front loader washer and dryer I already owned wouldn't fit in the closet. I would of had to buy smaller units and I have a king sized bed so that would never do for me. I opted to take out the huge hot water tank and install this on demand unit instead. It took up a fraction of the space so my laundry units will fit, plus it saves a lot of energy, because it does not have to constantly run to keep the water hot when no one is using it, like a traditional water heater does. What an energy saver. I don't do my own plumbing or electrical, so I had this professionally installed. My contractor had no problems installing this unit and was done in under 2 hours. Draining and removing the original water heater probably took the most time. The initial cost of these units are somewhat high, so I appreciate I was given the opportunity to try this through the Seeds program. Thank you Home Depot.
