Can this be attached to my downspout to let the water spread out onto my lawn?

Instead of a solid pipe carrying the rain water from the roof downspout out to the street, could I use a perforated pipe like this? I would like to use the rainwater without have a rain barrel. Just distribute it along the length of the pipe. I hadn't planned on burying it, just laying it behind some bushes. Would this work?
