They must have revamped the directions I found them to be excellent. There are a couple dings and the wood panels on the back did not fit due to the mis-welded adjustment rail on the inside of the side panel (large side) a little persuasive bend of the light gauge sheetmetal. It took me 2 hrs to unpackage, assemble, clean-up, and load my guns and ammo. It's not a 500 lb beast but bolted to the wall and the floor, and hidden in our old kitchen pantry cabinet that I reporposed as a built-in in our master suite

Worse product ever directions were poor several pieces had dents, doors are crooked, it came with the door scratched up and there's no way of telling it's put together wrong until the assembly is almost complete. The screws are almost impossible to tighten in the small space given. I told my husband to return it but he says it took to much time to assemble.

When I received my package right out of the box I could see superficial dents and dings in the mettle.
It was packaged very well so I can only assume that this must have happened in the factory.
The directions are a pain. There is no way to indicate what way is up or down when laying out the back panel. This does not become pertinent until the very last step so its your call if you want to rebuild the entire thing or have a less secure gun cabinet, The quality of the material overall is not that bad but nothing amazing. The bolts but one did not tighten all the way so the construction when complete is shaky at best. On the positive side its storage capacity was acceptable I just wish it had deeper shelves for better handgun storage.

Assembly instructions are poor in print quality and explanation. I have assembled many kits, products and this is the first that I completely messed up. Got left and right side panels backwards, consequently shelfing inside is backwards. This will take a complete disassembly and rebuild to correct. The major parts/panels should be labeled at the factory. Also got the two sets of bolt and nut hardware backwards due to the poor quality of the printed diagram for these items.
Overall the unit is useable as is but still not completely happy with the finished product!

Reading other reviews and was thinking well for the price what could go wrong... Well first of all the parts were not labeled at all and after putting pieces together found out they only go one way the screws were in a bag mixed up. The wall pieces were damaged some welding was falling apart and edges were damaged and not from delivery the box was in perfect shape. The directions were just pictures no explanation at all and steps made no sense why put all together with no screws and then put on doors and handles then go back and put in all screws which about 3 total lined up right. The only thing that made me happy was the look afterwards but to be aggravated for 3 hours for two people to put together I would recommend paying the extra to get a better safe in another brand because it must be the manufacturer of this company to put out damaged pieces.

As a loyal and long-time customer of Home Depot, I find it difficult to believe that they would allow an item like this to be sold to their customers.
It is so flimsily constructed that it is guaranteed to arrive with some dents and dings in it. The gauge of the metal is about what you would find in a very cheap file cabinet.
One of the results of this flimsy gauge is that the parts will not fit together acceptably— that is, if you' could ever interpret the extraordinarily vague and poorly marked instructions. The poor fit of the parts will require that you use tools to further bend pieces so they will adequately fit together. As a result, putting this safe together will require at least three hours of indescribable frustration-even for one who considers himself quite adept at "assembly required". In actuality, this safe gives that phrase entirely new meaning.
So, if you desire a poorly designed and glorified, weak file cabinet for your firearms, this may be for you. However, even at this price-point, I suggest that it is a poor value. I have never been one to take the time and write reviews. In this instance, however, I felt it was my duty to my fellow consumer.

Assembled it solo in 3 hours. Other reviews said it would take twice as long and needed two people. It was fun to put together. My expectations were low, so it is way better than I expected and looks good. The provided instructions are poorly done, but workable if you are careful. Like instructions showed the two back panels as having a top but they are symmetrical and interchangeable. I lost one washer and there are no (zero) extra included, so I had to hunt for a close match in my coffee can. I never expected it to hold 16 guns, but after using the shelving option on the small side there is plenty of room for 4 - 5, maybe 6 if you are careful and have no installed optics.
