Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rick American Standard Champion 4 Toilet in Bone Color
Installed like any ordinary toilet, two bolts and a wax seal. Replaced my 1972 Kohler with this one. It uses the same 1972 technology, but with different flow pattern and a huge dump valve. Works way better than the Kohler!

Beautiful toilet but usually needs two flushes to complete the job. Very disappointed. The champion it replaced (master bath upgrade required a different color toilet) worked without any double flushes.l I would not recommend it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wolfpack72 Excelent flushing action!
Flushing action far exceeded our thirty year old toilets at one third the water usage. Toilet was very solid and had a very smooth finish. Very easy to install. Extra height was a lot more comfortable than I expected.

Let's start off by saying this is a fine toilet. It is sturdy, and it looks sleek. It doesn't come with the wax ring (which you must have), a closet flange ring, or closet bolts. The flange and bolts you may not need: if you're replacing a toilet, you'll have both already. However, their condition might require you to buy new ones.
I did my homework and the consensus appeared to be "buy a comfort height toilet". These are a couple inches or so higher than a regular one. This comfort level height appears to be based on somebody who is around 5'10". I'm not. At five and a half feet, I find Comfort Height to be a little tall. This is on me, as my "homework" wasn't complete. Live and learn.
I installed this alone. For 90% of the job, this doesn't raise any concerns. However, when it comes to seating a toilet weighing over a hundred pounds, you're just going to want some help. The problem is getting the closet bolts to feed through the bolt holes in the base of the toilet. I eventually ran to the hardware store, bought some longer bolts and used those, as they were easier to feed thread into the openings. Then I hacked them back to the height I needed. I also had to buy a second wax ring - an associate had recommended a thick ring, but that had my toilet standing around 1" off the floor.

This toilet is comfortable due to its chair height seat. We have had this toilet for ten years and it has never been stopped up and always flushes clean so we are very happy with it.

Very efficient and effective toilet. Strong initial flush with longer greater volumn available if needed.

I bought this toilet about 5 years ago. It flushes well but the flapper in the tank leaks constantly and the toilet tank fills up with water over and over again causing water waste, in turn high water bills. American Standard claims the toilet has a 10 year warranty but they make you pay for that flimsy, blue cheap replacement flapper that leaks. I think they should redesign the flapper by making it much thicker and bevel the shape to plug the hole, kind of like the old fashioned clam shell flapper.. I will never purchase another American Standard toilet.
