all plastic construction and too early to tell how reliable it will be. Initial performance is good

Received the drain and it is constructed out of thick plastic which can be adjusted according to where your drain is. however the chrome piece is also just a piece of plastic painted to look chrome which really disappointed me. Installation will depend on your plumbing but we almost needed a plumber to come out and disconnect one of our pipes so that we could fit this drain in as you don't have much room to screw it into place. Thankfully we were able to disconnect the pipe to fit the drain in appropriately and reconnect it! So far it looks great. I can't comment on the function as the bathroom is still under renovations. I will say it didn't get 5 stars due to the price not fitting the quality of the construction in my book.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Cliff Nice drain but issues
Bought this for my new Americast tub. The installation was not particularly hard but there is a significant issue to be aware of which resulted in a serious leak. The tee that joins the drain and overflow connects to the final tailpiece with a fine thread and gland nut compression gasket. If you thread the tailpiece all the way in, which seems like the right thing to do, the ABS tee cracks - at least mine did. It was not noticeable when I checked it for leaks after initially installed. Unfortunately it leaked a lot after it was all closed up in the ceiling and in regular service by my tenant. Amazing how much damage can result from a little crack. Had to replace the entire plastic portion with a PVC setup, at 25 dollars, and fix the mess. I really don't like using the cheap brass drains we see today but this ABS unit caused a lot of stress for me. The metal portions, especially the popup drain plug, are very nice and why I recommend but be careful with the tailpiece.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sam Great drain
My plumber installed my American Standard Ovation tub today. I ordered the deep soak bath drain so that I could fill the tub way up, which is what this drain allows you to do. My plumber said he filled it almost right to the top of the tub. He did not mention having any issues with installing the drain. I haven't taken a bath yet as we still have to have the tilers come in. But so far I am pleased with the drain. I will update later if I encounter any problems.

I had to return this because the black ABS construction is not acceptable for the plumbing code here in the city I live in.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JRFsomers Cheap plastic
I bought this drain for an American Standard Americast deep tub. I was surprised to see the drain pipes are all plastic, and not very sturdy plastic at that. It was also rather expensive relative to other drains from name-brand companies. Unfortunately, this seems to be one of the only drains (only one I could find) with enough vertical extension for a deeper tub. Instead, I bought a much higher quality brass drain for a regular tub, substituted a longer vertical pipe from the local hardware store, and got a much higher quality drain that I have confidence in.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rich_Pearse Another deteriorated flange seal, can't get part
Just like other reviews here, the problem is that you can't just get a replacement part for this drain. It's only 2 years old and the rubber seal that slips under the stopper has broken away at the seam. I can't believe you can't just buy a new seal, it would be a simple fix. This is a terrible oversight that really ruins what would otherwise be a very nice product
