I was happy to find this product after an extensive internet search for similar products but could not find many manufacturers that made the same concept. Our 17'x17' gym room located in our pole barn so we laid down a premium underlayment on our concrete floor to prevent any moisture or mold build-up as a precaution before laying out all of these plush tiles.
Final total needed to cover this large space was close to 30 boxes. The problem was that when we ordered them from home depot.com and were all delivered, I opened all the boxes and noticed that about 10 boxes had defective tiles in it which consisted of bald spots throughout each tile leaving an inconsistent texture throughout the tiles (pic attached). So instead of completing the project all in one day, I had to run to my local Home Depot to return the defective ones and go through all of the boxes in their inventory to select from the best ones. Thankfully HD accepted the returns and aided me in ordering more tiles from another store.
I am thankful for the previous reviewers and their comments which aided me in when it came time to laying out the direction of the pile/plush and agree 100% with the following comment: "Care must be exercised in orienting each tile consistently as light reflected off of the tile changes the shade of color depending on how each tile is installed relative to the adjacent tiles. Again, I had to orient each tile such that the shading appears as consistent as possible. This can be a trial and error process and does take some effort. Despite all the care that I took in the installation, the shading still appears somewhat patchy and inconsistent, depending on the lighting conditions in the room and your N-S-E-W perspective. I was hoping that upon completion, the carpet would appear as if it was like a rolled out single carpet, however, that's not the case."
The other observation and yet another inconvenience was what to do with all of the sides and corners that come with each box. You can see all the leftover pieces in the attached photo and my local landfill can now thank Apache Mills for this instead of just selling separately.
I would have given a better rating if I didn't experience all of the "extra" time needed in receiving a defective product in the beginning and having to run back and forth as well as the pile direction issue. Hopefully this product holds up through the years.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dorothy sides & corners should be sold separately
The carpet tiles were relatively easy to install; they seem to be good quality although we just finished the project a few days ago, so we'll have to see how it wears over time under the exercise equipment.
We purchased this flooring for an extra bedroom that we use as a gym (11x12 ft), and the room contains a BowFlex, a treadmill, plus a few other miscellaneous pieces of equipment. So far the flooring is great when I'm doing stretching exercises on a yoga mat, nice and cushion-y.
The one thing we didn't like about this product is that each box contained 6 sides and 4 corners in addition to the 6 18"x18" interlocking squares, but our project consisted of the floor in one room with four corners and four sides. We only used side pieces on two sides of the room; the other two sides had to be cut to fit from the large pieces so there was no need for the side pieces provided. It resulted in a LOT of waste since we had many, many corner and side pieces left over.
The manufacturer needs to re-package these carpet tiles so that you can buy just the 18" squares alone, and then the sides and corners in separate packages in reasonable quantities. We can't return any of the unused pieces because they were all part of a boxed package, so we just had to throw away the extra pieces.
The other thing to watch for when installing these carpet tiles is the direction of the pile - make sure you have every piece going the same direction or you'll have light and dark spots in your floor.
Other than that one issue of wasted sides and corners, the carpet tiles seem good so far, and they give a nice cushion to the exercise room floor. Since this room will double as a spare guest room, the floor should also be nice when we fold up the gym equipment and put air mattresses down for bedding.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ryan Functional product and a good DIY project
I needed durable carpeting for my exercise room and this product from Home Depot appeared to serve my purpose. I purchased 14 boxes of the Pecan colored Plush Tiles on the Home Depot web site; each box contains six 18"X18" tiles with several edge and corner pieces. The description of the product on the web site was fairly good and the ordering process was easy. I received the product within a week of my order and all 14 boxes arrived without any damage. The plush tiles are manufactured from tire material with a thin but dense layer of adhered carpet fabric. The carpet fiber has a directionality to it. Care must be exercised in orienting each tile consistently as light reflected off of the tile changes the shade of color depending on how each tile is installed relative to the adjacent tiles. The majority of the installation was straightforward; each tiles locks into adjacent tiles just like pieces of a very simple puzzle. I was hoping that upon completion, the carpet would appear as if it was like a rolled out single carpet, however, that's not the case. The individual tiles are very apparent. Since my exercise room floor plan is shaped like two staggered different-sized rectangles, I had to resort to cutting tiles to fit two sides of the floor such that the entire floor is covered. This was very difficult and required a sharp carpet cutting blade, T-square, time, and a tremendous level of patience. Anyway, I think the carpet tiles look OK for an exercise room, but more so than looks, the product is functional, i.e., good sound insulator, good insulator against a cold concrete floor, handles heavy equipment such as tread mills and weight machines, and effectively cushions the feet when doing calisthenics.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by exercisers What other reviewers have said is true
If you care about how this flooring looks as far as the coloring is concerned, you might want to reconsider the purchase. It works fine for us as a barrier to the cold shop floor for our exercise equipment. The installation isn't difficult but time consuming if you want the color to match through out the floor. It changes as you move from side to side. We gave up worrying about it because it does the job we want it to do very well. I also agree about the number of edges that you receive if you are doing a larger area. Too many.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bill Good product to use over concrete floors as an underlayment with some exceptions
The product has a combination of hardened rubber and dense carpet. These features provide good protection of the floor. The product fits together okay, but does lay down flat. As such, I am using it as an underlayment to protect the floors in an exercise room (free weight area) . With a carpet covering the top, I am hoping the materil will flatten out in time. I would not recommend the product by itself becaue it doesn fit together flat on the floor and the 18 inch square tiles separate too easily.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jack Very easy installation
The product was extremely easy to install. It looks as though professional installers were involved. The only issue I had was that the square footage calculated in the extra pieces, so you actually need to order additional product if you are doing a large area. My area was about 565 sq. ft.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mary57 Strong "New Tire" Smell
We installed this in a basement bedroom. It looks good but smells like a tire store. After several weeks the smell is as strong as the day the tiles were laid. Not sure if we can live with this -- may try removing tiles, taking them outdoors and putting rubber side up in a sunny area to see if that would age the product and reduce the smell.

Too much shade variation in the individual pieces. Regardless of orientation, different shades of individual tiles are obvious. Some different thicknesses in tiles - had to group the thicker ones together to minimize issue. OK for my exercise area application but would not buy again.
