We are frequently asked where the engines used on Ariens and Gravely equipment are manufactured. Because engines are globally sourced from the best manufactures, there is no simple answer to this question but here are some general guidelines:
Larger engines, used on both commercial and consumer products are primarily manufactured in the United States by companies like Kohler, Kawasaki, Subaru and Briggs and Stratton. Some of our larger commercial engines are built in Japan by Kubota and Daihatsu.
All small engines (less than 10hp or so) are manufactured in China. This includes engines built by Kohler, Subaru, and Briggs and Stratton as well as the Ariens AX and AC engines. Currently in the world market, all of the highest quality engines in this smaller category are made in China.

Answer:
The handlebar height adjustment is the same, but may be called out slightly different depending on the source. If the engine bail is pushed forward, it releases the handlebar lock so that it may be adjusted according to the user or for storage. Once the engine bail is released, it should lock the handlebars into position. Hopefully this information is more clear and easy to understand. We apologize Read More

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little mower I needed a small mover for occasional use and did a fair amount of research learning that most of the cheaper mowers were junk, but this one came highly recommended - the reviewers were right! I took it out of the box, raised the handle, put two screws to attach it, put gas in and it started on the first pull!!! It even came with oil pre-filled! The reviews are correct that it is heavy, so for hilly terrain it can be a pain, but the weight indicates quality. Time will tell if it will hold up, but the initial impression is that it is great - I would highly recommend it. October 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid Takes 2-3 pulls to start, but runs well and is built very solid. The Ariens is just a better quality mower than the Craftsman I had to return because it stalled during first mowing. I'm tall with a bad back, and this mower has a higher adjustable handlebar that most mowers don't (even the more expensive ones). It's heavy to push, but you get used to it. Another benefit that I didn't know it had is the 4" maximum cutting height. I have a thick lawn and the higher height comes in handy so the grass doesn't clump when mulching. Time will tell, but so far so good. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by As Good as You'll Find This appears to be about as good a mower as you'll find at this price with the features and quality it includes. I'm happy with it overall. I replaced a very similar 20+ year-old Scotts mower that got a lot of hard use. It is disappointing to see how the quality of materials has slipped over the years. Thinner pins & bolts, cheap-looking clips and plastic, a light-weight starter cord. I can't help but wonder how long the plastic grass chute and bag mount assembly will hold up compared to the steel counterparts on my previous mower. I hope stuff like the safety handle cushions doesn't start falling off. The little brand sticker on the front is crooked. Looks cheesy. No big deal, but you'd think they'd be eager to get the little things right on a higher-quality mower. I guess that's the norm today. The deal maker on this mower (like my previous one) is the one-lever deck height adjustment. Mowing height is adjusted in seconds, and the lever is spring-assisted, making it a snap. No walking around the mower breaking your thumbs on those stupid height adjusters! A MUST HAVE feature for me, and all but impossible to find on push mowers any more. If you adjust mowing height often you should consider this feature very seriously---you'll wonder how you did without it. This mower started on the first pull out of the box and did a great job---it leaves a nice clean lawn behind---good bagging vacuum and a smooth cut. The Chinese-built Loncin engine is more than powerful enough, though it is quite loud. It is probably less air-polluting than my last mower, but noise pollution is worse. It surprised me a little in that regard. Worse dust pollution for the operator, too, as the bag does not suppress dust at all. A dust-filtering bag would have been a nice touch. There are some complaints about the mower being hard-to-push. These seem unfounded. The mower is pretty heavy, but rolls easily enough. Despite some niggles about a few quality issues, this machine is what I was looking for. It is solid, has a very sturdy deck, and runs, cuts and bags like a champ so far. What would make it a perfect mower? A dust-suppressing bag, a quieter U.S.-built engine, sturdier wear components (bag mount and starter cord come to mind). Note: The listing for this item mentions handle-height adjustment. There is no such feature on this particular model---only on the self-propelled versions. October 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality Mower I have a smaller lawn and used another brand's mulching mower for about ten years. The engine was starting to go on it, so I was in the market for a new mower. After using this mower about four times, it has been terrific. You can mulch, bag, or use the side discharge. Starts great every time and mulches better than my last mower. It's a little heavier to push, but feels extremely durable and well built. The mowing height is very easy to adjust with a single lever, and it also includes a rinse nozzle that you can use to clean it out after mowing. Overall, a terrific mower that seems like it will last for a long time. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Reviews were helpful I bought this mower mainly because of the reviews on it. Some stated it was too heavy but I purchased to get exercise and get off my rider. It will give you a bit of a work out but it operates great. The bagging system is so easy to use. To switch between bagging, mulching and side discharge is simple and fast. I have had for a month, mowed the yard three times and although not much use it starts with 1-2 pulls every time. Solid built and I don't doubt it will give me years of reliable use. The box was in terrible condition when I picked it up at the store so I inspected it before I left and no damage to mower noted. May 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely Pleased!!! I did research 2 other mowers and decided on the Razor...This is a well thought out mower and designed well. Nothing but good things to say. The adjustable mower handle is a wonderful feature, depending who is cutting we use 2 of the settings. I have a low back problem on occasion and this helps me with pain etc...The sound of the mulching with the bag on is terrific and leaves the lawn looking great. My yard takes 45-50 min and like the ability to leave mower running while I empty the bag. My neighbor commented that he likes the sound of it when I'm cutting..Thank you for making a great mower. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by always relieable I bought my first Ariens second hand 21 yrs ago. I was so impressed with the quality and reliability that it was hard to look at other brands. I did look at other brands but I have to say Ariens was my choice again. Set the handle, set the bag, put in the gas and she started on the first pull. i was smiling from ear to ear. I highly recommend. March 13, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Electric Start Model # 911179. The electric start rarely works. There is not enough torque in the starter. It starts fine with the pull start, but the electric start doesn't work when the mower is cold and rarely works when the mower is hot. It has been this way since I purchased it 2 years ago, so it's not the battery. The mower has to be adjusted to a least 4.0 in height or a slight uneven part of the lawn will cause the height adjuster to change. May 8, 2016
