Answer:
Artscape window film insulates a small amount, but these are decorative items and we do not promote or market them as performance films. I would not recommend purchasing them with the intention of providing significant insulation.

Answer:
Etched Glass provides a significant amount of privacy. Bear in mind that vague shapes and shadows are visible with the lights on at night within several feet of the window, and the closer to the window the more discernible the shapes can be.

12 in. x 83 in. Etched Glass Sidelight Window Film is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks Great, Easy to Do The product is a high quality material which make it easier to use. The shipping took a while, but I live on the East Coast and the Window film came from the factory in the North West Coast. The film appeared to be factory cut just for me. I had two sidelight windows to do. Each sidelight was 6" by 5ft. Following the excellent instructions, I marked the backing paper and cut the sizes using a utility knife with a fresh blade. I left the length a little long and did a final trim at the very end. The attaching of the film was easy, peeling away the backing paper a little at a time as I went down the pane, peeling and squeegeeing, peeling and squeegeeing. You can start over as many times as you wish since there is no gluing involved. Just spray on a bit more water/soap mix. The adherence is from squeegeeing the film onto the wet glass and squeegeeing out the air bubbles and the water between the film and the glass. I made my own small 5" squeegee from a flexible piece of clear plexiglass. When you like the positioning, spray more water mix on top of the film and do a careful and final squeegeeing. I trimmed the length at the end just like it was wallpaper and did a final squeegeeing of the last inch. Looks perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for garage windows Easy to install, lets in light, but also allows for privacy. Used this on my garage windows because we didn't want people to be able to see into the garage, but still wanted natural light. This worked perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great! The etched glass window film looks great on our entry door windows. We wanted something plain but attractive since we just remodeled and went for a contemporary look. This is perfect. My husband put it up in about 20 minutes, and there's no sign of it peeling at all. We've had it up for about 2 months. Great product so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good product I bought this film to put on the 9 mini windows on my side door. The film was easy to install and provided the privacy I needed as well as the natural light. Once installed, there were some air bubbles that took some work to remove. Overall I am satisfied and hope they will last a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to install I used this film to obscure the windows in my front door. I liked having sunlight come into the house but didn't like that everyone could see into my house at night. I thought about buying a new door but found this product. So for the small price, I gave it a try. I'm really glad I did. I was concerned the film would eliminate too much light but it really doesn't. The installation was a breeze. The hardest part was cutting straight lines to fit the window panes but it was not difficult with standard scissors. The instructions were very clear. I was able to find an inexpensive Bondo spreader that worked perfectly for smoothing out any bubbles. Because the film is the "cling" type and not the "glue-on" type, there was no mess and I can easily change my mind - or the style of the etched film - in the future. Product worked as advertised!
